I'd be more focused on locking bank accounts and credit cards...

The locks were as far as I went. Sometimes people aren't in the mental "place" to think about some things.

I think your original post said green tiles "on the floor" or referencing the floor somehow. i see green marble on the fireplace surround, but tan/beige on the floor.

Yes where the beige tile is was the same green tile as back of fire place. The beige is staying the green is coming down next.
I see what you mean kinda hard for a forum to know what was in place originally.

My parents house is 30 years old, tile right to plywood. And the only reason some of it was replaced was my mom wanted wood. My father also built the house and knew what he was doing

Taking notes.....that sounds like what I would do for a rental property change. I guess a spousal change is no different.

Quite familiar...I helped my dad do his house 25 years ago, he put Luann over the plywood and laid his tile. Amazing! It has never cracked or anything. He wanted me to do the same...I said, just as insurance I would put the money up for the Hardi-backer. Some people do run into height problems remodeling so I could see skimping.

Nothing major, but prepping a spare room for a simple makeover - fresh paint similar in color but with a little more blue. Scrubbed the walls with TSP and washed the floors (still looking great with original finish after 50+ years). Started with freshening up the closet.

Thanks, they are nice. I'd love to know what finish was used back then. Don't think it's a poly. I'm guessing a shellac/varnish combo, due to the orangish tint. Few wear marks here and there....but that's character.

If you put a level on that closet shelf brace....I am guessing, it's out of level.:) just guessing, might be the pic.
