I didnt follow their plans exactly either. But did watch their series to just get an idea. For someone who has never tackled something quite that large its a good starting point.

But yes 2x8's for the floor joists on 16" center. I also did 2x4's on 16" centers for the wall framing. A lot of shed plans call for 24" which is probably fine but it was a matter of like 30 extra bucks to do 16" centers. You will want "framing studs" i believe they are called. They are cut down from 8' already to allow 8 foot walls.

If you go to a real lumber yard with your plans and a list they can probably help you order exactly what you need. I know mine was willing to go over my plans and verify materials with me.

    ^ 8' pre cuts

    They're generally cut down to 92 1/4 "

Some nice work guys! My bachelor pad in the boonies (peer and beam construction). This is the deck I mentioned on here before. 8x25, entire frame and about 1/3 of decking were delivered using my old honda civic - 10-12 boards at a time. And yes, I'm a damn fine redneck. :D Next, my tiny utility room...tore old tile out, baseboards etc, replaced dryer vent and re-tiled/grouted last weekend. Still need to add baseboards, paint and replace door and door frame. Summer will be used to replace windows and paint the house and of course stain the deck.

Looks great! A good deck is indispensable for a liveable house :)
U gonna use lag bolts to strengthen post/band connections?
How did you anchor the band to the house?
Also u may want to put a post under the splice in the band on the lower deck.....

Standard wall height here is 8' 3/4" , obviously you would be higher with 92 5/8" studs , it seems to be a regional thing

Only residential construction for the most part , everything else is metric , sometimes both , my Span book has tables in both metric and imperial

It probably has a lot to due with USA's consumption rate of products driving manufacturing to standardize on SAE measurements for residential construction. A large majority of folks here in the states are never satisfied and always to throw away something and replace it with something new...

The span books just convert the sizes to metric essentially but fun fact , 1/2" plywood is actually 12mm , 3/4" is actually 18mm etc so it kinda works both ways but there are mills here that mill lumber for the Japanese market in metric dimensions

I got it. I did drop one of the burner jets and lost an hour of my life trying to fish it out... directions included with itvwere very clear and easy to follow. Just tedious to reach the back panel and oven jets...

Galvanized lag screws ftw lol or are those structural screws? In any case I only see one screw at the corner, prolly not enough :)
Sometimes decks fall off cuz not fastened well to house especially if not flashed well. Extra steps are prudent here

putting a post under the splice is a good idea lol

Now I get what you're asking. Galvanized lags bolts every 24 inches along the ledger board against the house. You're correct on structural screws on posts but I also have backup support you can't see - type of strong ties for added reinforcement. All sides will be covered with hardibacker siding for a much more finished look. This one is overbuilt to be quite honest. Appreciate the feedback.
