Well as if i needed another project, i got another one. I ordered a new compressor, blast cabinet, and powder coat gun. Which all means I have to reorganize the garage to fit it all. Plus add another run for 220V to where the compressor will be. But its all to progress the project FJ40 im working on so it will save money/be worth it in the long run.

So I started the hard piping setup for the air. Got as much done with it as I felt i could without the compressor in place but its nice to tackle at least some of it.

The only good part is it has been raining tons so i havent been able to start/really progress the outdoors projects.

My friends in the Home Improvement thread!! Do any of you have suggestions for getting rid of chipmunks? Humane methods please.

My dad uses the live capture traps baited with peanuts. Not for chipmunks but for grey squirrels but should work the same. He then takes them to the local nature preserve and releases them there

I have a trap I'm getting and will be doing that, but I swear it's like 20 chipmunks and that's a lot of catch/release...

I think my dad said he was caught 2-3 the first 2 or 3 days and then hasn't really caught any since but also doesn't see them anymore too. Lucky for him the preserve is all of a 5 minute drive (if that) plus a short walk in to release them

Releasing live in a neighbors yard just means they'll come back. (Then again, this is coming from the person who launched a dead rat into an asshole neighbors yard...)

hope it works! I would have done that at our last place because they were all over the place. I used one of those tennis racket bug zappers on a few and fried some, that was quite funny;)

Started decking the rafters this morning , we waited to begin because its been pouring rain here since Saturday

There will be a skylight in the overhang that will run from the rafter tails up about 5' and be about 48' long .

We decided to start at the top of the eave skylight because its total length is yet to be approved .

First off we laid out the location of the row of 4 mid span 2' x 12' skylights that are centred on an interior hallway and then came down a distance that equalled full rows of the 2x6 decking to a spot that put us roughly 5' up from the rafter tails for the top of the eave skylight .

We chalked a line end to end of the building and screwed a 2x4 stop on the line and down to give us a straight line and keep the beginning rows from walking downhill as we beat the 2x6 t&g tight together

We were a bit slowed down at the front of the building because as we were covering the exterior walls we had to wrap our Typar housewrap up and around the LVL rim blocking , tape it and lay a bead of acoustical caulking over the blocks and exterior rafters to complete our continuous air barrier seal to the decking

This is what the whole ceiling will look like when we have all the decking down

Haven't seen one like that, but should work. I made mine out of 4 sides, top and jar on bottom. What's supposed to get them, is going inside and seeing daylight and it confuses them. :notsure: I also put the top 1/3 of a 2 liter bottle upside down so they can't go back :stirthepot:

I haven't found a humane method that works for these little bastards. Plus catching and releasing animals is illegal in many states. And most die when relocated anyway. Chipmunks can have 1-2 litters per year and have a LOT of babies. These things multiply like crazy and wreak havoc on a yard, foundation, garage....
The only method I have found that works is a bucket trap, but they do die. I have caught 10-15 per week all summer and I still see them all the time. I also use mouse snap traps. Neither are humane but they are no different than mice to me and they have caused endless damage to my property.
