I don't see that very often anymore. Used to on older homes.
A cable won't clear a sludge clog if it happens to be one. Only a blow bag will clear it.

My home is about 40 years old. I feel like I've tried everything, I don't want to dig and cut but I think it's my last option.

I've also plunged on it a bit with no change.

If it runs straight out you'll be lucky. Either way if a cable won't clear you can get a cheapo blow bag at box store. If you try this use a valve or hose bibb at end of hose. Then a washer machine hose from that to blow bag. Makes controlling it easier. Then have shop vac handy.
    Good luck.

Thanks, I really do appreciate it. It's odd to me that it just happened fast and not a gradual build up.

    No problem.
I do hope you find it outside. I have an older house also out in country and I only have 1 exit. Just depends how well of a plumber plumbed it.
Post pics if you run into problems.

When are you tackling the nightmare?

I've been fucking with it from the inside for a little over a day. I was able to run a snake about 10' in which puts me outside. The pipe leaves the house and goes slightly under ground. I plan on digging up around it and putting a clean out in, it's PVC. Hopefully I can get somewhere from there. The plan is to do this tomorrow.

You're the expert. Does this sound like a good plan of attack to you? @Kolunatic

I wish mine ran outside at sink. You can hide clean out in a valve box if it's deep enough.

Yea If you know it runs out right there. Try cable from there or blowbag.

It's not deep it's in my bushes, I'm starting to think the bushes may have rooted through my pipes if it wasn't my wife running a dish towel through the disposal.

I'll leave the clean out showing just because it will be hidden in the bushes.

I'm sure you can understand when I say that when I turn the water on and listen to it drain I can hear how far the clog is. It's a good way down the drain, takes about 3-4 minutes to fill up.

    going to be fun!
I had this issue several years ago from a neighbor at my house in Tampa. I cleaned up the backside of the garage then had the art class from the local High school come and paint the backside of the garage wall to look like the colors of Los Angeles.....
