Day 1 of tile work; taking the old stuff out and saved myself a bit of money by helping the guys and removing the screws and helping remove the underlayment. The old stuff was popping right off so there was no bond between the mortar and the underlayment.

Yes lock mitre titebond3 and it will be screwed to the old post. It should hold up for a very long time. If not I'll redo it. The homeowner is letting me play a bit, which is nice.

Second day of kitchen tile work, finished pulling up all the 3/4" underlayment, put down the 1/4" durarock, and layed the 24" tiles. Tomorrow they will be starting the demo of the bathroom tile and putting in the grout in the kitchen. IMG_1697.jpgIMG_1701.jpgIMG_1703.jpg IMG_1704.jpg

    Joshua,
Be careful about touching those white caterpillars, they will apparently cause a nasty rash.

Day 3 of 5 day saga. The grout was spread and the demo work on the bathroom was done. The builder put the green board right on top of the bathtub, which is why the caulking kept getting mold on it. Putting in the new tubcreated some issues, as it is steel, and not plastic. Nothing like when the contractor breaks the glued seal before it's set to have a water leak on the ceiling right under the bathroom. I told the wife it could have been worse, it could have been my fault!!

Just a side note; I am now in love with the Porter Cable 20v impact driver. I used the contractor's to do some of the work and save myself about $600/$700. I found a refurbished drill and impact driver set on Amazon for a pretty good deal, and I will have these. Oh yes, they will be mine.

Which one? The 1/4" or 1/2"?

It shows the drill is 1/2 and the impact driver is 1/4

Wasn't sure if you meant this impact

    Or this one..

Lowes has a pretty good deal going on them for Labor day.

The battery is slightly larger (AH) and the drills have a slightly higher rating/speed in the first link...and the red. That's is the only difference between them.

It's the bottom one I like, nice and compact and I don't do major jobs so it would be more than adequate, and I will be checking these sales! Thanks.
