I saw that at Lowe’s this week and really wish I had a reason to buy one. I thought it was such a cool idea. I hadn’t seen one before. That would be a pretty sweet range box to keep ammo and use as a make shift shooting table. Hmmm....

When deployed, there is a little too much play in the support arms and structure to be useful as a stable shooting platform. The table also has a weight limit of 50lbs, so setting up a rifle and leaning into it might be an overload. It might make a decent portable reload bench, though. If it holds up, I might pick one up personally and use it for camping purposes.

Been working on my master bedroom. Decided to gut it, replace all the old wiring and add more outlets, insulate between the furring strips on the exterior walls, and vault the ceiling 2 feet higher in the center.

The ceiling is going to be white washed tongue and groove pine with 4 recessed lights.

I bought the Hyde drywall vacuum sander for $30 on Amazon and a dust deputy.. can’t believe how great it is. I usually get covered in spackle dust, but with these there’s no dust at all.

Well that shoots down my idea. Pun intended...

I could see that working good for a camping food prep table.

Still not outfitted, but this should give you a size comparison with all of my armorer tools and parts on the table.

    Started our next job

Gutting an old 1940's house and doing a major renovation and additions

You never know what you're going to find in these jobs but this was a first , #6 range feed run through the metal range hood ducting

Somebody did some kind of half-assed homeowner reno at some point and changed the 2nd floor joist framing and roof framing to accomidate a new vaulted entry stair

We thought originally that the extent of the problem was that the roof was being supported by a new undersized beam , in this case a cedar 4x4 that was sagging under the roof loading

Removing the drywall it became apparent the problem was much worse as the sag had caused the "beam" end to draw out of the king stud to the point that it is only bearing on a single cripple by about 5/8"

And when that wasn't bad enough , the point load of that king stud / cripple pack comes down on the floor about 16" offset from the bearing wall below , and it may be hard to see in the pic but the full length floor joists were cut out to the right at some point to allow for the stairwell so the point load is cantilevered on a 2' piece of old joist that is just nailed with a couple spikes to the full length joists to the left

OZ-T, that is just downright frightening that someone did that and lived there. Let alone sold it. I guess it is somewhat lucky that you have the house and are redoing it rather than some family who would not put in the effort. Could be disastrous...

Update on my basement project. Everything is done with what is needed prior to drywall. I decided to hire out, hanging and sanding 1300+ square feet of rock does not sound fun in the slightest. I did catch a major break, my wife's cousin is a plumber, he came up this weekend and did some plumbing work for us. cut off my toilet stand pipe, scored the concrete around the stand pipe as my builder just concreted up to the pipe and we didnt want to reduce our "load" capacity by doing an inset flange. He set the flange in place, ran my sink drain, ran supply lines to the sink and to the shower, installed my shower valve and head adapter for me as well. He did it all in pex so it wasnt overly to much work for him. In addition to this, he was cool enough to run a water line to a refrigerator that I just put down in my basement. What made this such a major win? he did it all for free, he would not even let me cover materials. I had to fight him to even let me take him out to dinner.... the guy doesn't even live in my town, drove 2.5 hours to come do the work. I owe him. :)

Holy shit. And into the realm as no such thing as square and level and plumb, and just double every estimate of time and money and then add 50%.

After some more exploration work , clients are a coming Thursday to decide if we just bulldoze the old building and start over

Yowza. Yeah, with that much dicey structural, you don't want start what I imagine is a dream remodel by having to incorporate structural corrective band aids into that (I imagine) lovely new floor plan and design. And I am sure there would more and more painful surprises at every turn if this is the mark of quality the poor place has been subjected to. You could be using all that time and money to make forward progress with a better result.

Sounds like the best option unless the footprint was in an important location.
