I love concrete countertops the more I see them. Espcially nice that you can put hot pots on them and not have to worry. Hate taking pans out of the oven and having to find oven mitts/towels to put them one

My grandfather bought a chunk of waterfront back in the day. Wasn't zoned for residential. He lived on his boat and the house started as a garage. Then poof it was a full blown house. He basically told what there was of a building department back then to go for themselves. Other then it being in a flood area, he had everything built to the standards of the time. But still makes me laugh thinking of how he was.

Nice job on those countertops. I made concrete countertops as well. It was a fun experience. Was this your first time making concrete tops?

    There's one.

Why do your own research when you can have others telling you how to think?!

Last bits of trim arrived. Should have this wall build done this weekend.

Then it's time to build the modular workbench and lockers.

Then paneling is satin clear beetle kill pine T&G. It's smooth but the color variations make it look rough. I guess there is bug holes and such in there too.

Thanks. It was a bit pricey, but looking at it now it was well worth the effort.

Had a casement window that leaked pretty bad... as in there was a distinct waterline on the glass. We brought in a remidiation company to discover the extent of the water damage since there were mushrooms starting to sprout in the burbur carpet.

Damage was limited to a big bell curve with the window at the peak. Ripped out the the block, and carpet to the slab.

We were getting an egress put in the spare bedroom, and the installer gave us a 50% discount on window number two. So in an egress went.

Wall is 1.5" pink foam board with all edges filled with pest control greatstuff and seam taped. Then a 2x4 wall with the studs sideways floating on top the foam. More 1.5" foam in the stud holes, sealed and taped. 3/4" furring strips then paneling. Over built, yes.

Spent the last 2 days breaking up and removing a mix of soil and shale under the existing joist system which sucked balls

Got the 22" under joists we were looking for

Got well aquainted with this machine for breaking up the shale layer

Was glad when that job was behind us

We framed up our temporary jacking walls this afternoon , LVL's arrive Monday and will go directly under the temp jacking walls and we will lift then crib up the joist system which will allow us to remove all the existing posts and begin our work to install a proper foundation

Anyone have opinion on circular saws? This is purely for renovating my house and won't see serious contracting use. Loooking towards corded since I have access to power.

My dad had a older Milwaukee that lasted a long time and picked up a rigid when that quit that seems pretty nice for the price.

Looking at Milwaukee, makita, dewalt and rigid right now.
