how much salt would you say you add in any given month? And how many people do you have in your household?

The people who used to maintain ours won’t inform us of this information because they want us to keep using them.

If his house has higher air pressure than ambient, the sewer gas could bypass the flandge and exit through the main stack vent.

But yeah. :puke:For sure. Plug that poop hole.

We did ditra floor, then kirdi membrane over hardi backer (needed drywall anyway) Membrane is up 39" on all walls and to the ceiling in the bath surround. The cost was a bit higher but I consider it like a good paint job... 90% is your prep work.

The floor is silver/black quartzite and gets a touch slick when wet. The rest is 4mo of setting subway with each tile going up and leveled as we went. We are not professionals and my wife was pregnant and we were chasing around a 19mo at the time. Pics are from an old phone, and I'll see if I can dig up shots of the finished product.

We finished the room and sold the house 2mo later. We built the bathroom for us, with no intention to sell at the time.... but life. The new owners were telling us last week that the bathroom gets a ton of complements.

My Ion Exchange filter has used (3) 40 lb bags in the last year for 2 people. It's pretty similar to a water softener. It backwashes every 1000 gallons which is roughly 2-3 weeks (that I notice).

My mother in law suggested we go on renovation realities with my man-cave project.

Told her it would be pretty boring. The worst issue on the project was telling on a nail in my sandal, and the duration of the job (11mo). Nobody wants to watch me hang a sheet of pink foam panel per day for a week straight.

I think something might be wrong. Maybe this company set our softener to regen way too many times. Because we use 200 lbs like a month with a family of 4

I would switch companies out of principle at that point.

We use more than that for two people. But our water is extremely hard and we have our own well.

I use a 25lb bag a month on a well. For what it’s worth....everyone’s water hardness is different.

Yeah... that sounds like a lot. Mine has a a little screen that says 550/1000 gallons that tells me when it will regen next. Can you see what they have it set for?

The owner manual probably gives a general guideline for how often it should be backwashed

Thats true. It probably has a lot to do with the results of your water test

It just says 2:00. I’m gonna read up I the manual and see what I can find. But if 200 lbs doesn’t seem like a lot to some people based on hardness then I’ll do a water test myself at the suggestion of @Dr. Taco911 and then adjust the harness accordingly. It’s set at 39 but it is well water and apparently very hard.

Thanks for all the help and answers though guys, it’s been a great help.

    Question!

About to put an offer on a home that’s in mid construction. We have the opportunity to pick the finishing touches (faucets, door pulls, appliances...)

The main area (LR DR KIT) will have a wood-look ceramic tile.

In the master bedroom... would you continue with the same tile and put down an area rug? Would you have carpet installed?

tough decision BUT it would be easy for them to do it now than try to match it later...just my opinion. Is there in floor heating or is it even a consideration there? that would be the only thing else to consider is tile is cold but looks good.
