Me personally I would probably go with carpet. It’s warmer and more comfortable to walk on.

 

I'd rather have a really nice wool area rug on tile than wall to wall carpet.

My grandma had tile in her bedrooms and i hated it. It was painfully cold in the mornings.

If you go with carpet, I would definetly think about purchasing extra tile with the house. My house came with hand scraped wood floors in the living room and carpet in the bedroom. Now the carpets need replaced and theres no chance i can match the floor.

 

It is funny to see cats peel out on tile though

Carpet is easy and cheap to change. Tile is pretty labor intensive. Carpet is bad for allergies, tile is excellent. Pets? It all depends

 

No allergies as of yet. Yes pets.

Too late for wood?

 

No. But for the price point we’re already at, too much to make the upgrade. (Houses are neither small nor cheap in this area)

Tile

 

I vote tile. If you've ever pulled up old carpet you know how much dirt's in there that a vacuum never gets. It's always dirty. Add area rugs as needed, which are easier to clean (and will actually be clean).

I agree with tile. If I could do it over again I would have done the whole house instead of half. You still want the area rugs on top so you don't get echos.

 

I would go with tile, but I'm not one to carpet every room. We have two rooms carpeted. The rest are hardwood save for the tile in the bathroom.

 

That would be about 1.5 million in CA.
