Why stop there? Might as well put a full-on shitter in. I've got a view fence in the backyard looking into a private park for the neighborhood. Can wave to the dog walkers while I take a dump. Great way to meet the neighbors - guarantee they'll remember my name.

Anyone done a two color cabinetry job in their kitchen?

I’d love it if you’d share some photos!

My opinion is that larger kitchens can get away with more multi-color with cabinets and smaller kitchens look too busy with so much color variation. I like the idea when executed well like your example or this:
    upload_2018-1-25_9-51-34.jpg

Then there is an example of intent not meeting execution.
    Intended look:
    upload_2018-1-25_9-53-9.jpg
    Vs Execution: o_O
    [IMG]

And then you have this which is absolutely beautiful but I don't know if it would feel comfortable to be in.

Good catch/call on the colors in a larger space. While the space looks large right now, there’s nothing in it. Not. A. Thing. I need to go over there soon, so I’ll take some painters tape and mark off the extent of the cabinets and see how much that reduces the area...

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I like the décor of the third option, just not the galley layout

In general I'm a fan of two tone but only if they're the same color family. Pick a slightly offwhite color chip and then use the color that's two spots below it for the accent. Also, I would say that two tone is definitely a trendy thing right now. If you love it, go for it, but if you're going to live there forever and are doing it because it's trendy now, you might wish you got all one color in 5-10 years.

That’s one on the issues I’m wrestling with. ‘How will what we choose effect resale value?’

Def not going with a color per se (solid blue or solid green cabinets.)

Considering a light creamy off white (light grey undertones) uppers and a dark base that shows the wood grain ever so slightly.

But no form decision has been made yet...

    Another question:

    Main floor is 2 BR/2BA.

Do the bathroom cabinetry in the same as kitchen for continuity? (I like the look and have seen it done in many high end homes)

My opinion for what it is worth: Any high end well made wooden base cabinet with attractive stains that show the wood grain and the craftsmanship will be timeless. If you have continuity from kitchen to bathroom and throughout your house I usually feel as though the house is well thought out and "looks like it is supposed to be" and not just a home store special buy weekend haphazard renovation.

I like the idea of a subtle difference. Resale you'll likely turn off more buyers than you turn on. Especially if it's 5-10 years down the line. If you're flipping a house I'd say its worth the gamble because its so popular right now. Think Golden oak cabinetry, brass hardware, and emerald green counters with off white appliances. Super trendy in the 90s, repulsive to most buyers today. A kitchen of the same age where someone went with white cabs, white appliances, and even the same green counters would appeal to more buyers because they see a "simple" fix of new countertops and appliances if needed. White just doesnt go out of style. It's rarely the hottest item, but pretty timeless.

Doesn't have to be the same exact cabinetry but should tie into the rest of the house. I think its stupid when someone has a tuscan kitchen and a cool modern bathroom. House just needs to be cohesive. Even the two baths dont have to be the same. I make them 'match' but make the master nicer. For instance, run a strip of glass tile in hall bath but do the whole shower with the same glass tile in the master. People like the master to be 'special' in some way shape or form.

not 100% a DIY upgrade, but it is part of my basement finishing project. :) gotta love getting a surprise bonus from work. Covered this for my wife, and the TV for me haha.

Am I the only one that puts my roomba down where I was working?.....to pick up the dust I made....even spackle dust. I am really surprised they haven’t made a commercial version for job sites. Food for thought I ROBOT techs.

They did have one, it was a 'workshop' version that you'd use in your garage/basment. I forget the model line but you could probably find it on Google. I think the color scheme was yellow and black.

It wasn't exactly commercial grade, but the idea was there and I'm sure they would have made a commercial one if there was demand.

Ive used my roomba a few times for cleanup. But really the shopvac works a lot quicker. But since its just at home its easy enough to let it run and not be in a time crunch or anything.

    Battery powered too!

Id avoid the darkness. It does make the space seem smaller, and that is never good for resale. Also depends how much natural light/windows you have in the space. Remember, what is trendy now won't be when you sell it. Some other stupid shit will be in vogue. This is what keeps the home improvement industry steaming along: "It looks dated." But natural finish materials are timeless.

I think it could work better if rather than horizontal throughout, a specific section of cabinets were done vertically above and below the counter, to designate a work station or zone, like say, the range, or a coffee/bar area.
