No one around me in south central pa will touch GAF/Elk since they had a lot of warranty issues in the past. Locally they like certainteed and tamko. I had tamko on my house last September.

I had a GAF failure on some composite decking and they sucked with the warranty coverage

I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully they got it straightened out. I don't wanna have to deal with a bunch of shit. What were the issues they were having with the shingles?

You will go in planning to spend $7 on a box of exterior 2 1/2" screws and you will walk out of there after dropping $100, $200 or more

Not sure of the issues but several of the roofers I talked to said they wouldn't touch them any more due to product failure and warranty issues. I didnt ask for any more clarification so I am of little help to you now.

I know with roof warranties, I stallation is everything. From type of nails, to amount of nails used(6per sheet). A lot of diy ers and shitty contractors take shortcuts to go faster and/or save money. Not that this is case in anyone's else's situation here, but just sayin:)

Repainted living room, kitchen and hallway over the last couple days. Went with a Martha Stewart color (concrete gray) and white for the ceiling. Turned out pretty good. Now we have to figure out our flooring choice...

I have a quick question for the floor experts on TW. My dad is procastinating and doesn't feel like redoing our bathroom floor so I am trying to figure out what would be best and easiest to put down. Currently half of the floor is laminate sheet(all one piece) and half WAS carpet..but now we took it out so its just plywood...we want to replace everything with something sometime soon..and my dad isn't crazy about paying someone to come do it. I have a friend that has done flooring in his home and he said he could help us. I am trying to figure out what it the best flooring to do. I have read that laminate sheet can be tough as if you cut it wrong..your screwed..so I was thinking laminate tile(I think they had squares that have like 4 tiles each) Would anyone saying no to that? And I don't think he wants to go through the trouble of real tile..

Go through the trouble of tile its worth the expense and a bathroom shouldnt take too much if you are only doing the floor. The one piece linoleum or vinyl is an easier fix. What ever you do... do not go with something that will allow water to get to the plywood especially if you have a bath tub or shower in the room .

I just put 150 bundles of these on a new building in banff this winter, they are great quality shingles. I liked the large nailing strip they have and we didn't have any bad shingles in that whole order.

GAF timberline HD are generally pretty good, we have had a couple of issues but we use them mostly.

IKO are ok and BP shingles are absolute junk

I have to do my roof this summer but I will probably go with rubber from GEM :)
