Anyone have 9’ ceilings in their kitchen? I’d like to see your cabinetry...

How tall are your uppers? Do you wish they went all the way up? -maybe with just a small topper cabinet?
    (Sorry for so many questions!)

    Trying to figure that out.

I would hands-down always go to the ceiling. I think it just looks better and well thought out. My ceiling is only 8' 4 1/2"

Do it. Raise the microwave cabinet and maybe the fridge cabinet if you can and add crown if space allows. you won't regret it. My house had 30" uppers in it with 10'+ ceilings and they looked so dinky. Looks better now with crown and raising the microwave, but still wish there were larger cabs.

From top of trim to bottom of cabinet is 43.5”

Actually glad they don’t go all the way up. We like the open area up top. We feel it would close kitchen in too much of the cabinet went all the way up and we have a very large kitchen. Like having some color up there to give contrast.

What’s the measurement of the space between the countertop and the bottom of the upper cabinet?

    (I think standard is 18”??)

I have 8' ceilings and my cabinets go all the way up and even then the top shelf is a stretch to get anything down.

My last house had 42" cabinets and I agree they were too tall for daily use, but I prefer the look and added storage. We didn't store everyday items up there, but it was perfect for less frequently used stuff. If you have the space, why not?

That’s kind of the problem. It will be dead space. While we’re not ‘tiny house’ extreme minimalists, we don’t have, nor do we want, ‘stuff.’ The wildfire took what little we loved, we aren’t going to collect or decorate just for the sake of having shit.

In your neck of the woods, I thought it was standard procedure to put a stuffed jackalope up there, and some old mining lanterns. You know, so there's lots of gross shit for cooking grease to adhere to and attract a thick patina of congealed dust bunnies.
