In place of having the 16" Makita or just a different use tool? Of course I like the idea there, are a few other brands with similar type saws or modifying kits for angle grinders and circular saws.

So just a more accurate cut to start with?
Coming from arboriculture side of things on my part, and as you know from your firewood prep, your chain can wander through a cut depending on how good you are at sharpening it.

Serious question: If you have to address the cut after you make it; why would the track help?

Its a Festool track capable version of the Prazi beam cutter which is common in timber framing

    http://www.praziusa.com/12-beam-cutter-model-pr-2700/

The track makes aligning cuts faster and more accurate

A 16" Makita beam saw only has a cutting capacity of about 6" , these are 10" and 12"

So since I bought my house in 2001 I have always rented my basement. Great, since i've never paid a cent of my mortgage but sacrificed room in my 1000sq ft home. Recently my long time renter bought his own house and the timing was perfect. We decided to not rent anymore and spread out. We we're trying to decide to move to a bigger home but we love this house and all the character in it, plus we are looking for some property in the mountains instead. So it's a 2 bed up stairs with tiny closets that meet back to back and I always thought it would be cool to turn the spare room into a closet and bust the wall out between the two rooms making one big suite. As most guys with women in their lives, a big closet is VERY important... Anyways, just finished up the project and what a transformation!!

Also DIY  + pic heavy as usual....

And GO! Closet set up 1st cause renter has yet to move out.

As i've posted here before with my other projects I like to make good use of pallets from my business, this time is no different. The wood is beautiful with tons of character and stories from where they've been. I decided to clad the interior of the "walk through" (formerly both closets) in pallet wood and stain same black as other projects in the house.

Hey guys, could use some advise.

I plan on getting the exterior of my house painted this year, but not sure the order I should do some things, and if I should hire a specific type of pro (for non painting). What I need done is:
    - need new gutters,
    - some construction repair like fascia boards,
    - paint.

    A couple questions:
    - Should I hire a carpenter or some other type to do the construction repairs?
    - What order should I have all this done?
    - Should I have the house painted before the new gutters go on? I would like the gutters to eventually be painted the same color as the house.

Typically most gutter companies can match to the house color.

    These basic steps:
Fascia and other repairs (assuming they are pretty simple jobs)
    Paint
    Seamless gutters

    Approach:
Get estimates for seamless gutters. When getting estimates, ask if they can refer you to a contractor or handyman who can handle your repairs, especially since they may run into a lot of fascia work. Ask what colors they offer (get swatches, codes, or samples), and also ask if they will coordinate with painters.
Get estimates for paint. Likewise, ask them for referrals for fascia and other repair work too, and if they would paint new gutters and spouts off the house (so they can paint the fascia properly), or if they can match what the gutter guy offers in color. (get swatches, codes, or samples)
Research the names they give you for the repair work.
Ask both paint and gutter guys if they will coordinate. It may not work out, but potentially the gutter guys could fabricate them all onsite and leave them all for the painters to spray match to your trim color, then the gutter guys can come back to hang them. It would require some free space for a while, schedule coordination, and willing contractors. But this would require two mobilizations of the gutter guys, which they may be reluctant to do without additional cost, or at all, depending on how they operate and how far away they are based. You can also ask the gutter estimators if they will accommodate this up front. Could be a differentiator in how they bid and how you select.

Or have all the fasica/roof trim painted white so the gutters are an easy/close match for whatever colors the gutter guys offer.

De nada. I went through this two houses ago. I had a handyman guy replace three fascia boards, and tear off some T111 and replace it with hardi shingle and correct flashing in one gable. I had trouble getting a paint contractor initially because I was a dick. Ahem. I mean, I expected decent prep. I had just spent about 3 months solid killing myself on wooden window restoration, porch, and front and rear door jamb and sill work, and I wasn't going to have some hack fuck it up. I also has some largish areas of stucco that needed repair/recoating. Finally found a willing guy who took it on with a helper, and they did great work. The stucco work ended up being a bit more than they bargained for, so we just did a change order for more dough.
