We are required to use joist hangers by code if the joists cannot be through nailed from the back , I always toe nail them first , the hangers are a formality , we are installing all the hangers this morning

Tytan seems to be the Canadian equivalent, not sure if Huber the parent company of advantech distributes under a different name up there

Broke down and bought a cirular saw the other day. Will have to post more pictures of the workbench as it comes along. Temps dropped back down and its been really windy so I've been enjoying my new couch instead.

After using the Tytan subfloor foam for a day I might be a convert . Was a bit weird to get used to laying a bead at first and the projected coverage of 1 can replacing 12 big tubes of regular subfloor adhesive didn't pan out , more like it replaced 7 or 8 but who cares , it replaced 7 or 8 haha

Nothing as grand as what you guys do, but finished my first "big" project in our home. Wife had wire shelves in her closet that she hated and ripped em out. We put this setup in instead. Also did my first laminate floor. And I made the water access panel magnetic so it's an easy on and off with no damage or tools required.

It was good practice for when I will likely be doing the entire downstairs with wood floors, redoing all the trim and repainting everything. :annoyed:

Yeah LED, one of those "never need to replace bulbs" fixtures. I'd be skeptical on it's actual longevity for like a hallway, but for a closet I'm not to worried.

Here in the States most guys toe nail then add hangers anyway. Any joist over 5' is required to have hangers barring connection details on the plan.

Buy a good stepstool. As I'm guessing that's why the chair is in there

Yes lol, my Dad always ran the double sided folding ladders when he was a contractor when I was a kid, that would probably the be the route I'd go for something portable and short.

I think the technology is still coming up to speed. I work in a hospital that we are converting to LED. I’ve replaced 2 relatively “young” bulbs. There are some small spot lights that would burn out very often. None since we converted them to LED (nearly 1 year) Still have thousands of fixtures to go. It’s a slow process.

we have about 6 or so recessed lights in the kitchen, I replaced them with LED bulbs and one of them keeps burning out. We are on the 3rd LED bulb in that particular fixture, the rest are holding up fine...next will be to replace the fixture.

I replaced every light in my house with LED bulbs 3 years ago, have not had a single light burn out since, I leave my outdoor lights turned on from 5pm-7am every night. Obviously there can be a bad bulb ever now and then, but IMHO if you are consistently having an LED bulb burn out, then you have a bad housing or bad wiring to that housing. Again, my opinion.

heres an electrical question: In this old building the power/circuit breaker panel, theres a hum coming from the panel. Is this normal? I never heard a panel hum before. Its not real loud just wondered if its about to burn up or something?
