It’s two LVL beams joined and cased into part of the previous end wall supports since the cabinets werent finished on that end so I’m keeping a small part of that wall.

Have you ever watched the guy on YouTube called ishatani? He does all traditional joinery and I fall asleep to his videos. It’s like you have to constantly have that music playing in order for it to be a peaceful experience.

My next project is going to be a similar style table. I'm planning to use tusk tenons. They can be easily tightened if expansion and contraction is a concern being outside. You can also pop them out and break the table down for storage if you want.

Roy Underhill has a good episode on them https://www.pbs.org/video/woodwrights-shop-wedged-tusk-tenon/

I am no addict, but there are some good things to learn from him. Some of the woodworkers on there are really irritating to listen to. This guy just does his own thing and it’s cool to watch. Do you have any other woodworking projects that you are working on?

Most of the time it's pretty sweet, but then you find yourself installing 1x8 oak t&g that's been milled too tight on a breezeway when the heat index is 105°....

Have had a mouse in the house the past few nights, above the ceiling in the finished part of my basement. I have batts of fiberglass stuffed in the cavity above the sill plate & bewteen the floor joists. Over on rhe unfinished side, I noticed a small tear in the paper in one and upon further inspection, realized that all of the fiberglass insulation was gone. Found a decent sized chunk of the rim joist missing and a gap along the top of the foundation and the sill plate. This section is under my front porch and I'm theorizing that there's a nest under the porch as I've found no evidence of mouse activity any where else. I squeezed some mouse bait/killer through the hole as well as some cotton balls soaked in Peppermint oil. Then blocked it all off with some wire mesh. I'll plan on using some spray foam insulation this weekend to seal it up nicely. I left a few glue traps along the top of my foundation just in case any are still inside and want to exit, but given it's summer, I don't think they are inside. That was the only route of travel to where I heard it.

Inspected the exterior for any other points of entry and nada.

They got to eat the poison for it to be effective. By putting the peppermint next to it you drive them away. Peanut Butter!

I did put some of the poison in other spots under my front porch further away from that immediate area. Hopefully that'll be good enough.

Just remember, poison makes mice thirsty. They like to tear into water lines after they have had it.
If you can fit the sticky mouse traps in places with peanut butter you will get rid of them and don’t have to worry about the water lines. It’s a bit sad having to drown the mouse stuck to the pad though. But causes less damage.

Thanks! I should be all set as there are no water lines in that area.

Not my home but trying to teach my 8yo nephew simple stuff. Sister’s shower handle was loose, had to take off handle and tighten the faucet insert. Figured I’d have him help with the simple task.

Last couple days we papered off the floor after the concrete pours and the batt insulation for sound and to reflect the radiant heat up was installed in the ceiling

    Drywall was delivered today

and we installed our preassmbled window trim boxes on all the main floor windows

Drywallers start boarding tomorrow and we'll be working on siding and exterior finishes

    Too clean....too new.
    IMG_20180706_162106.jpg
Went at it with a nail puller, pliers and a grinder to give it that rustic/beat to shit look. Tile got cut today but gets layed tomorrow. Barn board front. Alternating mat and gloss tile for the top. Foot rail is 90 year old 3/4" oak from some panelling. I'll be using some 1 1/2" steel angle to cap the corners off. Probably end up with like 12 coats of poly wipe on varathane. Love that shit. So much depth.
