Painted the kitchen and family room. Had a lot of patching to do on seams that had cracked over the years. High ceilings are nice but a bitch to work on... The wife wants new counters in the kitchen and is going with an almost white quartz, hence the required painting and color change. Still need to rip out the existing back splash. Once the new counters are installed I'll replace it. Three hours at the tile store to pick out the right tiles

Did u see if the handles clear yet? Storm door mounts to outside of door jamb so it might give it enough room.
If they don’t clear I’m sure u could bump it out with some strips but I’d look into different handles first lol

So, on the back side of that weird paneling is this shoddy looking bit of carpentry. Any ideas? @OZ-T @joshua721

Go to the manufacturer or home store website. Most of them have a guide for measuring the opening and determining if it meets the minimum dimensions. For example, check out the guides under "Info and Guides" on this one:

Thanks for the input! I’ll go that route. This is my first time remodeling a bathroom and I’m doing most of the work myself so it should be an interesting experience. Haha

I think it matters based on personal preference.

I am going to remodel my bath with the mid level beadboard as well. I will be using the fiberboard. It bothers me the vinyl doesn’t match the trim (in the other posters photo). Just a personal thing no offense meant. I want all my trim to be the exact same white.

There is nothing wrong with using fiber board that has a semigloss layer of paint over it. It will be more water resistant than wall board with an eggshell paint over it and people don’t get so much water all over it ruins the walls.

Just my 2 cents. Can be done many ways.

It's just the way the colors are showing in the photo. The trim is the same brand and made specifically for capping the bead board. I agree you can do it many ways, but preferences aside vinyl is still more fool proof then the fiberboard. I choose to do cement board and aquadefense instead of schluter systems for the tub surround. It will work fine, but I'd never argue that's a better method or just as bulletproof as the schluter.

20180724_113035.jpg So the wife decides she doesn't want the wainscoting in the kitchen area anymore...

Not looking forward to getting what's left smooth enough for paint.

Doing the whole kitchen over. She thinks the wainscoting looked too "country". Wants a more sleek look.

    Point of your question?

Base delivered just now, going to install the kitchen today as appliances deliver tonight. We're in the last mad rush before we move in over the weekend. The house wont be completed but its definitely livable.

Whats all the tape on the floor for??

Btw looks good. I’m in the home stretch of a massive floor remodel myself. All new engineered floors in the house.
Its a hell of a job but hell of a lot of fun.

I like the paint color of the built ins.

end joints kept walking on me, used blue tape to hold it in place while installed the rest of the floor. I kept the tape on for the kitchen installation later today.

Depending how much it is to try to get smooth....and since you already have to repaint and everything...might be worth considering just cutting out the drywall and doing new? Especially if theres room for a lot of it to just be a 4' wide cutout (like an inch or two above the baseboard to 4' up) and then only have to cut to length to fit.

Just an idea instead of trying to sand it or whatever

I was able to scrape most of the glue that was left pretty easily with a wide taping knife. Getting everything patched and smooth enough so that I'm satisfied is a whole different thing. I'll work on one of the smaller areas and see how it goes. If it's more work than it's worth, I just cut it and replace with new. Progress pics to follow...

DoorDing - really not much planning. I've been working on painting the family room and kitchen ceilings and walls so that it will go better with the new counter tops we have coming. The house is really more on the contemporary style and the wood wainscoting just didn't fit with the style. My wife thought since we were making all the other changes, might as well go all the way.
