I feel they are a as much of a necessity around the house as a screw driver.

I have the cheapo corded Harbor Frieght one. I’ve used the Porter Cable battery operated ones and it worked very well. 20V battery and had plenty of juice for a long weekend floor laying job.

Every time I use mine around the house I say “this thing is freaking great” at least a couple times

Just used it yesterday to cut some trim to make space for the new tile that I’m putting in around the fireplace in our living room.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I have a Rockwell corded oscillating tool. I had a Rockwell cordless and it chewed through batteries quickly.

I have a Fein Multimaster and it has served me exceptionally well. I'd highly recommend it. The only drawback is you can get cheap knock-off blades for it. I have trouble finding anything that fits the inset starlock plus head that Fein uses.

I have bought a few BOSCH blades for it on Amazon, but they're also expensive. The expensive blades last 10x as long as the cheap ones, so at least you get what you pay for. The FEIN is so much better than the cordless Rigid I bought first and killed.

I've just bought multi packs each time I needed blades. I think that's the best value. I also am just a little bit more careful with what I cut so I don't wear the blades down with stupid stuff. Before I realized their cost I killed my first blade in about five minutes cutting through metal studs. Now I use the Fein for detail work and switch to a sawzall for heavy lifting when I've got access.

I used my Dremel to cut some Ramset nails flush with my basement slab. I was pretty happy with the purchase until I saw how much I spent on blades. It hasn't been used much since then.

Anyone have suggestions for hardware for this counter-weighted window. It’s going to built with 1x8 T&G clear western red cedar, 34” high x 48” wide. I have experience rebuilding old counter-weighted sash windows, but none with this surface mounted one pictured. It’s for a 800 square foot high end chicken coop and needs to look clean.

Im tempted to request building it like this, and installing it like a regular window.

The Fein blades are worth the extra cost versus the cheap blades IMO

Can you just use barn track hardware and rails for the sides and counterweights for the lifting action ?

Like barn door sliding hardware, but installed vertically? That would be clean.

I’ve got 5 openings with sliders. The architects have me importing Henderson hardware from the UK region, looks like they will work the same way. I’ll present that idea to the architects tomorrow. Thanks!

Anyone in here know much about gas fireplaces? Mine seems to have a rather large pilot light (~1.5" past the thermocouple) and the adjustment screw isn't working.

To top that off I had a gas/C02 alert on my smoke detector showing the alarm went off at some point when we were not home. I think that was from the first furnace run of the year but was on the detector closest to the fireplace.

Is the flame blue or orange ? It may just need a good cleaning. You should have a short hot blue flame. I'd carefully give it a cleaning with a wire brush and blow it clean. See where you go from there
