Agreed. But figured for short money I get 72 channels for local coverage that the live in elderly I care for can enjoy or in emergencies. (They can’t operate apps very well). Plus I’m about to add a bigger ham radio array so started with a small yagi to get the wife used to shit on the roof before I have to explain why! “But honey we are saving money on tv!” (Don’t mind that bad ass HF beam next to it.). Wink.

Progress. It is slow but going forward:
    -New windows in
-Ducting and roof vent for the range hood installed
-Most of the soffit framing completed
-Ceiling insulation pretty much buttoned up
    IMG_20181202_164333.jpg

    Most importantly,
-chest freezer in basement, with venison

Almost on to sheetrock, and hopefully getting things rolling quicker.

Looks like my basement! Just tore down all of the 1960’s wood paneling and drop-down ceiling.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
There's some nice tools coming out next year. I wish I would have had that diablo circ blade last week when I found a hidden screw.

This. I scraped all my ceilings in under 30 min. The rock below was in great condition so we just patched and sanded then retextured the ceiling with the whole house. I got a little heavy handed on the knockdown in some areas but it was my first time doing it so I’m pleased.

My house was new to me and completely empty and we planned to do a lot more modifications before texture so scraping wasn’t a big deal. Spray the ceiling with a pump sprayer filled with water and then use the widest flat drywall paddle and it’ll fall off with ease and dust will be fairly minimal.

    Which antenna is that?

I'm in a shitty area (reception wise) and have gone through 3 different antennas. The most I've been able to get is 7 channels- most of them being foreign language religious networks. Although the David and Goliath story was entertaining in Korean.

Antenna thread here we GO! Happy to share my experience but don’t confuse it with knowledge!

It is all about how close you are to the transmitter. Did you check that? Several sites you enter your zip and get distance, heading and station.

VHF an UHF are basically line of sight so in ideal conditions that is 70 miles before the horizon is out of sight. Actual reception is a little more than over half that, so if you have a few good stations under 40 miles you are golden. It can work up to 65ish but I hope you are in the tundra. (Not the truck hehe).

Next is the antenna gain, this one is a channel master cm-2018 (advantage 60). Any claim about distance is just marketing fluff. It has a pretty good GAIN when pointed at the station’s transmitter (and very poor when not) as it is a directional antenna.

So combine the two, heading and gain and you maximize your signal. I also did all the rest of the shit right with good cable, connections and short lengths, high up, no trees...You can buy signal amplifiers but if your too far away they won’t give you much.

True that, thought they had more cities than the handful they have. Suppose im lucky enough to be just outside of Philadelphia.
