What's the best way to make a temporary wall? I'm renting out some of the basement to a friend so I want to divide it up into a room, but they will only be with us for a few years and then I want to pull it out and make it one big room again.
I was thinking If I framed up the wall section in an L shape and then ran a few screws into the top to tie it to the floor joists that'd be plenty. It's drop ceiling so I'd sacrifice a couple tiles to do this. Not running any electrical or anything, just a temp wall. Might insulate just for sound proofing.
    Thoughts?

Simple wall like you said, and it will be easy to take down when you’re done with it.

Can you give a run down on what parts you used for this?
    Anything you’d do differently?

Well it’s a unistrut rail to the ceiling, then thread rod. What is used to hold the rod to the rail, just a couple washers secured with a nut?

I’m not familiar with unistrut whatsoever.

    Sorry for the delay...
    Simple setup,
UniStrut securely fastened to the ceiling. This is critical, fastened to framing with structural construction fasteners and washers to make sure fasteners can’t pull through and load is distributed. No hollow-wall anchors here, about half the load on these shelves are supported by the UniStrut (track). It’s available at any good independent electrical supply, plumbing supply, Lumber yard, or Big Box Home Center. It comes in 10’ or 24” lengths and two gauges...I didn’t know the load differences so went with the heavier version. I used nuts similar to those other members posted but mine had a plastic washer to hold them in place while threading instead of the spring.
Framing is all 2x4 (I went premium so the were straight and pretty) and shelves are 7/16” OSB, you might choose to go thicker for heavier loads.
Ledgers fastened to the wall at shelf heights, 2 structural screws per stud. Cross-members supported with joist hangers and hanger nails (because I had them).
Rod is 3/8” 10’ pcs cut in half. As @Crodell6 said, lots of 3/8” nuts and washers, I doubled them under each support to lock them, just back one off and you can adjust the shelf height for level. Holes drilled through the width of 2x4 with a 3/8” augur bit. Tennis balls on the bottom of the rods to save your noggin.
Fun project, let me know if you have any questions or need more pictures.

I need to drill holes through porcelain. Best thing I could find is mini diamond hole saw. (5/16”). Anything that will make some holes any easier? Installing shower.

    TIA
