Looks good . Was your lumber a true shiplap edge ? or square edge boards ? Just curious on your margin between boards , I like the look just wondered if that was a product of the board profile or intentional .

Not going to be fun, that’s for sure. Renting a ceiling jack($25 for the weekend) to help with the load.

It's a true shiplap, rabbet on opposing edges of the board. The milling set the gaps at around 1/8" but they did vary a little bit. Definitely easier to put up than tongue and groove and I like the different look with the square edges and gap instead of chamfers.

    And the floor is laid:IMG_20181216_161144.jpg

Now I gotta get the subfloor in the office in halfway decent shape, same wood here is going in there. Then sand and finish both rooms, and it'll be time for cabinets.

Still a lot of work to be done but I can at least see the finish line in the distance.

Alright for some reason this isnt coming to me as to what to do. We have a camper with "under bed storage". As you can see in the picture its just a simple cut out of the floor with three hinges so you can lift it. Problem is there is ~1/8" around all edges and nothing to keep it from sliding around. So lifting it it has a tendency to not go back down right and needs pushing/pulling.

So I want to add a simple way to keep it from being able to shift around. My thought had been to use some door hinges but that posed the issue im at now. Basically the frame the bed rests on in the middle is 1.5" wide. The center of the hinges is in the middle of those. The sheeting is ~1/2" thick. So im left with a ~1/4" gap from the bed wood to where a hinge would go.

Hopefully the pictures make more sense. So thoughts?

The end goal will be to have it hinge up with a gas strut to keep it propped up. I have the gas strut already (from a previous project) so mostly just need a way to keep the piece from moving around.

First picture so the bed area and you can see the portion that is removable

Here is a picture trying to show the gap from a normal hinge to where it would need to mount (the 1/4")

    Hope that makes sense

Almost got it all put up. Don't mind the wonky cabinet doors, have not had time to adjust them yet.

Does anyone have a good Epoxy , wax or another idea to fill cracks between hardwood flooring? I have some gaps that don't feel good to my bare feet.

Just put in an offer on what will be my my first house!
    1,850 sf living area,
    12,500 sf property,
    3 Bed, 1 Bath

If the offer is accepted I will be in this part of the forums a lot; everything in the house is outdated by 50 years and will need some repairs done too. :sawzall:

It's a great price for the area and with a lot of sweat equity it should pay off a good amount!

Doing it yourself gives sweat equity and monetary equity but importantly the pride equity.

Believe me, you got an advantage having the taco. I just got mine recently but I didn’t have it to haul the 140 sq feet of Italian tile from floor and decor for my new bathroom. It fit in the trunk, but the car looked like a low rider

I’ve seen wood putty used for that before. They have quite a few varieties these days in different wood finishes to match what your working on. Just be mindful that flooring expands and contracts just like anything else with temperature. If it doesn’t have expansion room, the only way it can go is up.

Also the humidity will expand hard wood in summer and the dry air in winter will make it contract.

Congrats! A fair bit of advice: whenever you work on anything house related, take copious pictures before, during and after. Print those pictures and keep them in a dedicated album or keep the digital files somewhere safe. Can't tell you how many times I saved my own ass by keeping records of "what's behind that drywall". Plus if you ever decide to sell, it's also a record of what you've done to the property. Should let any potential buyer know that you cared and put a lot of work into it.

I actually do the same with the truck, but adding receipts for parts as well.
