The hole is growing. I'll end up cutting out to the caulk line I snapped today to be sure to clear any moisture in the drywall. Also will remove the fridge and over fridge cabinet and just it right. The snowballing but I dontwanna cut corners and have to fix again later

How often do you guys caulk around your windows? I’m a first time home owner and havent had to worry about it before.

I can feel slight drafts coming in my windows. Windows are 12 years old.

What can I do to help this? I know this is an energy effeciency issue.

I know about the saran wrap film you can put on but thats not going to happen.

I will say there is visible cracking on the inside of the window around the edge. So caulking is a must on those.
Anything I can do on the outside seam of the window like an expanding spray foam to fill the gap?

you just have to watch the kind of foam you get. If its max expanding it could bind up your windows. Prob need to take off your trim on your windows and foam around if it hasnt been done, then re-caulk with some non-shrinking paintable caulk.clean out the old caulk inside and re-seal with non-shrinking paintable caulk.

I have vinyl trim around the exterior of the windows. Does that stuff usually just snap off so I can get a low pressure foam in around the frame?

Holding my hands up to the window I can feel a physical breeze. I probably can't do much with an exterior foam until it's warmer in the spring but for now I'll recaulk the inside. Will be a fun weekend project.

Any know if there's an issue running a 100w equivalent bulb in a non 100w socket since the draw is way less anyway?

If not. Anyone know if there's such a thing as A15 bulbs in 100w variety. I need that bright bright. They're going in a ceiling fan enclosure and the soft white plus frosted enclosure = very dim. Want high output Daylight. Tried a 60w Daylight with 800 lumens and it's still dim...

It does once its dry, its easy enough to get a razor blade and score it and it cuts right off flush otherwise it will pull out a big chunk and may leave a gap. You wont put enough pressure on it to cut through the vinyl window. Dont mess with it before its dry...you have a huge sticky mess like flypaper...

Old style bulbs I think it was because of the heat they produced and amp draw on wiring. I havent had any problems with LED's

    What kind of windows?
Generally speaking the best way to insulate/air seal around a window is from inside the house. Pull the casing, there should be a gap between framing and the jamb. Spray low expansion door/window foam in then trim when dry

    It looks tacky LOL.

But also if air loss is from around the edge does it really help?

My sister used it in her 130 year old farmhouse before swapping out the windows. I know that stuff works.
