If you need to cut off the door I always measure or scribe what needs to come off, using a staight edge score the door 4 to 5 times with a razor knife and cut to the score line with a skilsaw. No splintering will happen as long as you do not cross the score. Then finish up with belt sander and hand sand sharp edges. Just my 2cents.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
1978 mobile home bedroom makeover for sister. Not major construction but turned out ok?

Took Friday and Monday off of work and got some major progress done over the weekend. Finished my Island framing and electrical. Routed and sanded the butcher block top. Finished the Crown Molding to the perimeter of the kitchen. Painted all the cabinets. Installed new flooring in the kitchen.

Next weekend I should have all the appliances installed.

The sympathy and pity are deserved. Haha. My wife is much better at remembering to take photos than I am. But I will make a conscious effort to keep the thread updated. Thanks for the interest everyone.

    No, don’t put in carpet.
    Problem solved lol

I would do a planer or table saw. Orbital leaves too much of a risk of an uneven bottom.

Id rather do the extra work to get it perfect than risk looking at a shitty job the rest of the time I’m in the house.

Can't believe people actually cross cut doors on a tablesaw

Borrowed a small production cabinet workshop in the evenings on a large project once. Ruined me forever.

Among other things, they had a Jet table saw built into an air table (think air hockey table with air jets from underneath - levitates materials like the hockey puck) with 4' side extensions and 8' runoff. Auxiliary fence went out 5'. Pushed full sheets 3/4" MDF through with two fingers. That's the only setup I can imagine cross cutting doors on.

I’ve been trimming doors for years for a local carpet/flooring company. A good circular saw is all you need. Proper prep depending on the door material is key, along with a good blade.
