Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I was turned onto them by my wife's cousin. Although I still use phillips multipurpose often, when I need it to matter, the GRK's are where I turn to.

I got it for free, can't complain too much. Just bought a socket driver for it, and will use it for what it seems to want to be used for.

I'm quite happy with my 20V dewalt Impact driver, of course it being free helps but there's little wobble and it has the quick bits (no need to slide the collar when inserting bits), the only upgrade I want are larger batteries, when using the drill and impact the 2 2.0AH batteries go pretty quickly.

That's always a good price ;) Switch to torx, or swap phillips bits. IMO, your only two options, even if you upgrade.

Robertson (square drive) screws are the most common type for multi purpose up here so we use those for general use or temporary holding but anything structural where we need screws it either GRK R4's or GRK RSS

FYI , the GRK concrete and cabinet screws are awesome too

Going to look into the GRK concrete screws. We use Tapcons often, and sometime they just suck!

The only time I've seen Robertson here are in electrical panels, the Torx 20 and Torx 25 are quickly becoming the norm for exterior work and for home projects I use exterior Torx screws for pretty much everything other than drywall.

You guys are awesome. Pulled out the thermal fuse this morning and sure enough no continuity. Got a new fuse from the Local supply store for $25 and now we’re baking.

I owe each of you guys a beer if your ever in Lake Charles.

I switched to #25 torx for everything. I replace them as I go. I wont use square either they strip out to easy for me.

I got a Makita set with a bunch of different ones, I havent used the cross/phillips bit yet. using a cordless impact helps but it will strip out a screw pretty quick also.

for those talking about it a couple days ago (I'm behind). SmartThings can absolutely be used for home security. If you have an existing wired security solution like ADT where you have hardwired contact and motion sensors, check out https://konnected.io/ I have a friend that uses it and it's fantastic. Setup a tablet and run tiles and the only thing missing is the professionally monitored services. Which with cloud based notifications really isnt necessary anymore, there are sensors you can buy that listen for smoke alarm frequency and carbon monoxide frequencies as well.

Love smartthings, I actually used a zwave sensor and a force sensitivity resister yesterday to notify me when the pellets run low on my smoker haha. If you're creative enough, there is quite literally nothing that cannot go IOT

Phillips for you and Spax fasteners for me.
Every single box I've bought for a quick small project I end up shearing the first or second screw 1" down from the head, and then end up predrilling the first board I was trying to quickly fasten. Shouldn't the "engineered" nopilot drill required screws drill their way through ? ?

    Probably doing it wrong somehow.
