@PackCon The only thing I would worry about is any water that puddles on top of the door could find its way between the siding and sheeting. If you’re not completely convinced your drainage plane will prevent this i’d put a big bead of silicone around the top and side edges when you laminate the sheets

Yeah, this half of the house was added on in the 1960's. It was cheap pine paneling, not the good thick stuff. Dark pine panel, pine T&G ceiling and brown carpet. Yikes. First thing I did when I bought it was paint the paneling white and replace the carpet. Now it's the last room in the house to get remodeled.

I've taken out the minimal, failed insulation and put in new, replaced the wiring and had drywall put in. Just finished painting and oak wood floors (to match 50's original in the house) goes in next week. New window coming in 2 weeks and I'll put that in. Can't wait for this to be done.

I've installed 5 American standard cadet 3 toilets in my homes and my parents. Yet to have one clog on me and it's they're reasonably priced and easy to install. One thing I'd highly recommend is to get chair height (and elongated bowl if it will fit)

Never saw the thread before, but in late June, thanks to a deal with Home Depot and Amex points, and some coupons, I replaced all 23 windows in the house. Thankfully, only 1 window had to be ordered as a non-standard size.

I live in coastal SC, but since they had to order, I got "Dade County" windows for all 23 windows. It cost only $2-$5 more per window. Also bought hurricane straps for the roof. Overall, a little more than $4K total - I did all the work myself. Windows took 2 days. Straps took 5 nights. And replaced the front door as well - again, a 140mph+ door, which took all freakin' day!

New insurance is almost $700 a year less. AC runs a lot less. Can't hear anything outside anymore. AC usage shows, despite being hotter, compressor time and fan time and speed are cut in half.

Original windows from 1964 - so a big difference. And way easier to do than you think. Replaced every front window in one night ... (permits?). Saved a ton of money, got the best insulation and impact rated windows in the country. My only advice, do not get that window spray foam on your hands - it does not come off.

It didn’t fit, that’s why I got an elongated bowl.

One piece toilets with concealed flange bolts are easier to clean, but usually require attaching an additional bracket to the floor.

The single piece ones are my preference just because they’re easier to clean especially with young boys in the house.(hard to say that without sounding like a weirdo)

The thing to make sure is that you’re getting the same setback as you have. Standard toilets are 12” from back wall to center of drain. Also make sure water inlet is on the correct side.

Being a contractor I have installed a ton of toilets over the years. They all basically do the same thing. I like the higher end ones because the finish is a bit nicer on them in my opinion. Seems like they bake them a bit better than the cheapo home depot ones.

Got it all done in time for the rain today! I would jump off of it into the pool if I was younger. It’s a little further away from the roof line then it looks. Shed is also up on a retaining wall in front of it.
