I haven't weighed the cover. I have no problem carrying both pieces at once, but usually make two trips to stash it in the back yard when I need it out of the way. Making two trips is mostly to protect finish from potential scratches. I would guess it weighs at least 30 pounds, I doubt it could be much more than 60 pounds. Just a guess. If I was going to do it all over again, I would probably do it in 3 pieces, but it would cost more.

Sorry. The economy killed my job and my internet access is very limited. My tonneau is doing fine, and I remain happy with it. It does have it's down side. Removal is somewhat of a chore. An electric roll up would be nice, but they are like $1500. I guess I'll have to live with mine.

    035.jpgPhantom,
I thought you had a great idea so I tried it myself.
Found a site on the internet for the treadplate and had it cut in varying sizes to compensate for the fact that the bed is tapered.
I found some T-Handles on the internet also.
Got the 2x2 angle at a local place and pop-rivited some floating cage nuts on the angle.
Found the plastic tub at Home Depot. The angle blocks the tub from moving very much. Add a gate lock and presto! I have a cap that will outlast the truck and it will keep my stuff secure.
Cost was maybe $600 if you include the box.
It was a fun project. I could get it painted to match my truck but I like it the way it is. It takes maybe ten minutes to remove and put back on.

Where did you get the locks? I looked around for similar locks, but none have the long locking latch that reaches to the track.

Not diggin that cover so much... but there's a guy rollin round here in a tundra that has a diamond plate tonneau cover, like a "trunk" cover, that actually has tie down cleats on it, I've seen him hauling cargo on it like a really tall flat bed. Its heavy freaking duty.

Its not some flat thing.. its like 6 inches high If I remember it right. Its balls.

Gas company around my area uses Tacomas in their fleet and they all have diamond plated tonneau covers, hinged in the center in order to flip up. They sit on top of the bed like other covers and aren't low profile like these. I'll try to take a pic next time I see one. Nice job.
