Thats a WTF of the highest order. I can understand people who are too nervous to sweat copper, but fixing under-sink PVC (And I just noticed the inlet line, double-WTF!) is literally as easy as changing a lightbulb.

I'm a shade tree plumber at best. But it does seem plumbing problems do pop up often. I think water under pressure has something to do with it.

. Gives me an idea. I think I'll edit the title to include home repair tips.

Makes you wonder why they even took the time to use a P trap.

yeah...only thing I can say he's old (80s) and "tried" to fix it himself...I forgot about asking if it was still messed up until a couple weeks later...after his wife said it was still not working I just went over and fixed it.

Today is that day. I turned on the heat Friday morning to take the chill out of the house. There was a faint electrical buzz but no whirr of the inducer motor, no spark, no gas, no heat. Well shit.

I'm guessing the inducer motor is on its last legs, since it's the one giving that groany electric buzz.

As per the helpful label on the furnace cover, I turned the gas feed switch off for 5 minutes, turned it back on, gave the inducer motor a hard rap with my wrench, and then called for heat on the thermostat.

    20191028_084206.jpg

The motor spun up immediately, and four bright blue flames followed. :yay:

That was definitely my warning sign though. One fifty dollar replacement motor (thank you Amazon) is now on it's way.

It's probably a bad start capacitor which you may or may not be able to buy for a lot cheaper than a whole motor. I personally would bench test it and keep it as a spare.

Whinks is good stuff. Had a small factory in town that made this stuff. Try their spray stain remover. Works great on vevicle interiors.
