Ok, after spending several hours trying to program my homelink to open the gate to our community with no luck, I decided to log on and ask our smart Tacoma members. I was able to program my garage door opener immediately with the remote but it will not take the code from the gate remote. I have followed the instructions from the manual with no success.

    Any ideas???

    Thanks!

No rolling code. Actually got it to take the code (solid green light) and just tested it at the gate and it would not open. No idea what the problem is.
My wife's car took the code just as easy as the garage code.:notsure:

this is just a wild guess, but are you putting the community gate code on #1 and the home door on #2/3?

I know our replacement fobs for our garage door will only accept button 1 for a single door, even though it has 3 buttons. my garage door unit is so old I cant program a 2nd door to these new remote fobs.

on my 4runner I don't have an issue opening 2 different doors but then again I have a v4 homelink mirror not the new v5 in the Tacoma's.

edit : sometimes you need to program the homelink directly with the gate, using a remote to program a community gate will not work. I have seen this issue in the 4runner forum with the same issue with a community gate.

Yes, I have tried the gate code on #1 and #3. It finally accepted the code but will not open our gate.

Please explain your edited comment. I'm using the gate remote to program. Are you saying I need to be at the gate while holding the remote waiting for it to accept code in homelink?

that may have to be the way. on mine I cant use the remotes to program the homelink, I have to go an hit the learn button on the actual door motor.

It's likely a security thing... talk to the owner of the gate..!!

Try calling the HOA and see if the gate has a learn button. Some do. My homelink wouldnt take my garage doors even though it showed it took them.

I got mine to take my garage doors by doing the following

Hold remote to homelink to program and wait for homelink to accept the remote.
Go to the garage door learn button, press it
Go to the homelink button I just programmed with the remote and press it
Homelink accepted learn of garage door.

The homelink would NOT accept just the learn button of the garage door or just the remote. I had to do it with the remote first and then the learn button for it to take.
