The homelink mirror opens the garage even when the truck is off. How easy is it to change it to an ignition source, so it only works when truck is on. Any issues with doing it this way?

The factory wiring is to only work with ignition in on position. are you sure yours is wired by the factory and not some dealership / aftermarket wiring?

Factory provides an ignition and a constant hot wire. In most vehicles, homelink is the same way and works with ignition on or off. The only one I’m aware of that’s not this way are Jeeps due to being able to remove their tops.

It’s not hard to make it so it only works when on. You need to make a new harness that takes the ignition on wire and splits that to both pins on the mirror. Or hit up Bob in this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/updated-12-28-19-gentex-mirrors-w-homelink%C2%AE-blue-compass-backlit-buttons-for-2016-20-tacoma.550584/ and just buy a harness from him. No downsides to doing this. Mine didn’t come with a constant hot wire so I had to wire mine this way to get homelink to work in my truck.

I like the fact that I can open my garage door before I start the truck

I’m pretty sure mine stops working a period of time after the truck is shut off, like the headlights do.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the rear view mirror harness for a 2020 TRD Sport. Thinking to replace the constant 12v with a splitter from the ignition wire.

On the back of the mirror plug, the wire on the top row far left is ignition, the one 3 spaces to it’s right is ground, and the one on the bottom row 3 spaces from the left is the battery/constant hot wire. It's easy enough to test this with a simple voltmeter. If you want the harness, it's only $20 and can be bought from Bob's (you can get the mirror too, if you just want the harness, he has it) (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/updated-12-28-19-gentex-mirrors-w-homelink%C2%AE-blue-compass-backlit-buttons-for-2016-20-tacoma.550584)
