heres the situation guys, looking for input, especially from those who have added the Toyota auto dimming mirror after you took delivery of your 2012 truck.

Ive gone through TWO OE mirrors, they all functioned 100% except that the homelink buttons arent functional. pressing them does not yield any results in the LED. ive tried clearing them, using them, the whole nine, nothing happens to the mirror LED.

i know how home link works cause ive used it on both my other cars...

my supplier for my factory toyota mirror was so kind to express ship a mirror to me to verify. so ive two mirrors here behaving the exact same way. it must be my truck.

the temp, autodim, and backup cam all work perfectly...

help me ditch my garage door opener :(

i think we've figured out that im missing a pin...
on the right in this photo, below the green wire, is a missing pin... thats supposed to be the power to the Homelink module im going to put a pin in there, and tap it into the overhead 12v...

    will update this thread.

    Okay we got it...
i put 12volts to the slot above the green wire, and the homelink now works... now i need to get a pin in there, and t-tap it to 12 volts above the overhead panel...

anyone have a wire color up there i can t-tap for 12volts?

    for those searching...
i t-tapped a wire into the white (not the white w/ black) front over head map light wire and dropped a female pin into the wiring harness. went to radio shack, purchased a pack of female pins, attach it to the wire, you can just push the pin into the factory harness above the green wire in the corner, theres no need to take the harness apart. Now the homelink module has power and will fully function.

the only important note with this set up is: the homelink will have always power (as the map lights do). which means the truck will not need a key in the ignition for the homelink to function and your garage door to open. example, someone smashing your windows then activating the homelink to open your garage, which would be the same thing as someone smashing your windows and grabbing your clip on battery operated opener and using it.

    edit...
the pins i located locally at radio shack are called "9 position female D-Sub connector" part number 276-1428, the pin will just make it into the harness slot, works well...

Thanks for posting what you found really helped with the install of my gentex. I had the same problem. Factory harness did not have power going to the number 8 slot.
