A half what? Or is that 1 to 2.... please specify units.

    Anyways. Nice install!

    I really like the placement.

The other good thing is that now you have 12V down there. I originally ran a 12 volt line to that area to power my CB radio. Since then, I have made the wire much thicker and use it to power my in cab inverter and to power the actuator on my rear center window as well as some other things.

It is fused under the engine, but I'm about ready to have a small fuse block under there haha.

One more tip, if you really wanted to over do it, you could color match the homelink to the trim, or wrap it in some 3M rap of some sort. Don't get me wrong though, it's a great install.

I would be scared to take a tool to my center console.

    Thanks for the tips.

I thought the grey would be darker. I can always spray the homelink cover a darker grey.

The shifter bezel just snaps in. No biggie pulling it off.

The HomeLink module is fairly big. There is not much room to move the buttons back any further.
There are some ridges on the bottom side of the shifter bezel that I had to grind flat to make it all fit.

I should have taken pics along the way, but I was in a hurry to get it done.
It won't be nothing to remove the shifter bezel and take some shots, if requested.

Would love to see a How To on removing the console top - I want to put in a few light switches in the 2012 and the console seems the best place for them - since I cannot use the sunglass holder.

    Thanks

HomeLink works really well. I can open the garage from 40 feet away. that proves that the HomeLink does not have to mounted in the headliner.

To pop the shifter bezel off, unscrew the shifter knob, insert a butter knife into the gap at the front and lift up on the handle. Then gently pop the bezel off.

Here is a shot showing the HomeLink module and where I had to grind the ridges off the bottom of the bezel. I put some RTV silicone on top of the module to hold it to the bezel.

I did have to remove the plastic cross brace across the back of the shifter housing. Shown below.

I did the same thing but I cut mine into the headliner. More logical location IMO since most people are used to looking/reaching up plus constant power was right next door in the overhead console for easy wiring.

I need to do this so the headliner storage compartment I'm using for the garage door opener I can use for a switch panel.

Is the black box right behind the home link on your headliner? And they don't seem to have it on Amazon anymore.

The link is on the bottom of the pics in my first post.
Apparently, A mazon does not show them anymore.

    Comes in black,grey and tan.

The HomeLink system I bought was sold through Amazon by "American Security Company".
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_hi_1?me=A16P0WT3EI7DD8&ie=UTF8&qid=1349663058

You may try contacting them to see if they have more. Ther are some complete visors for sale on ebay. You will have to cut the Homelink out of the visor to use it.

Yeah I'll look around on ebay for one that doesn't have the visor.

Best bet is eBay, Craigslist and your local salvage yard as MANY cars come with Homelink so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

How about a Cliff Notes version of how to link the system to a garage door? My truck has the 3 buttons in the rear view mirror, but in looking at the instructions in the manual, they might as well of printed it in Chinese....
My kids are grown so I have no one to program mine.
