homemade hidden winch mount!

well I decided not to fork out the money and make one myself, im pretty mechanically inclined so I knew this would be easy and it was!

so far its welded in and I also used 6 grade 8 bolts, Sunday ill be pulling the bumper off to weld in gussets and a ton more supports...as it sits not I would say its just as strong as the aftermarket ones but im going to carry it a step further!

The winch it in there but it starting getting dark before I could run the line on it.

Looking forward to some pics showing some detail. I've had this same project on my to-do list for far too long now, if I procrastinate any more, I'll end up royally stuck before I ever get it done.

 

I'm interested in making one myself as well any updates on this?

 

Oh yeah just haven't posted...it's all done and I pulled a log off of a trail and my friend purposely got stuck on the beach to break it in with his f150

The timing is just too funny.
I was on a bit of a camping / exploring trip this weekend, and came FAR too close to rolling my truck down a bank after spinning out in snow (at about 6500-7000 FT) and sliding sideways onto a very soft shoulder that sunk almost a foot. Those few very tense moments would have been much easier if I had my winch installed by now, so now that project is priority one now. Any pics of the actual mount / braces that you wouldn't mind sharing?
