I really enjoy doing my own hot sauce. I don't get really good sun light in my yard due to the tall trees so I plant a couple different peppers and combine them. This year I got cowhorns, jalepeno, serrano and thai bird peppers. Steeped in vinegar, garlic and sugar and blended. Great for taco tuesdays, chili sundays and always a couple bottles for handing out to friends! What you got?

This is pretty awesome. We just got one of those Tower Garden's aquaponic farm things to grow some veggies. I put in some peppers (our current setup allows 20 plants). SO I may need to try this out. I've done salsa in the past and was planning to again since I did a few tomato plants.

I've got plans to try my hand at a fermented hot sauce at some point. Just haven't got the pepper garden up and running yet... But someday I'll be giving it a go.

Subbed. Me and the girlfriend have been doing our own salsa. No official recipe we usually just do tomatoes, roasted tomatillos, jalapeño, onion, garlic, salt/pepper, lime. Blend it all up and adjust to taste.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I've been making my own hot sauce for about three years now. I just wing every batch to taste and I lightly smoke the peppers with a mild wood just for a little extra flavor.

I do the same with all the vegetables, grilled / smoke with a stick of mesquite wood. Then just mix and taste till we like it. Wife doesn't like it super hot more like mild to hot. Try adding some grilled garlic too.

If you need a name for your hot sauce, @Bigdaddy4760, @Misplaced Nebraskan, @Kanyon71, and I came up with one .

I like where this thread is going, though. For salsa, I am usually quite lazy - I take some Herdez salsa, then doctor it up to my liking. That usually involves copious amounts of garlic, roasted peppers, chili powder, chili extracts, and cilantro. Lots of cilantro.

The full-on homemade stuff is way better, though.

They are large so they are great for grilling too. As my wife puts it, they go from Mmmm to what the hell did you do to me! lol

Edit- they're like an Anaheim. Can be sweet, can have heat.
