hi guys, I'm a big Waze guy, despite having a nav in my Tacoma. i was using a magnetic mount that fixed to the vents but since Toyota cheaped out and didn't incorporate a mechanism for stopping the air flow to a specific vent (w/o) closing the flaps, it's not a good solution. If you have your heat on, you will cook your phone. Anywho - my latest holder works awesome, I love it. It took me about 30 min to make. I used an old thermostat, 2 small magnets, 2 zip ties and a little paint. I put aluminum tape on the back end to prevent air from going through the thermostat. It works perfectly and there is no air or noise coming through. See photos. The first mount I made was cool but if I were to floor it and hit a bump at the same time, the phone could pop out. It's perfect if you do highways. I formed my own mount, using an epoxy and fits perfectly on top of the dashboard just to left of the radio. It sits in the groove and is surprisingly snug. I placed soft plastic film over the dashboard and formed the epoxy (like playdough) to fit the crevice. I then put my iPhone 6 Plus in a latex medical glove and pressed into the blob. I stuck a tiny magnet from one of those magnetic thumb tacks into the middle of it to help secure the phone. I glued a rubber band onto the
Bottom to increase fiction to prevent the mount from sliding. Works excellent and pops in and out (no drilling). See photos

I just got a KENU Airframe. Saves a lot of hassle and it's pretty damn great.

I have similar mounts to Kenu, just wanted/needed someway to stop the airflow to avoid heating up my phone. Thw AC didn't bother me through the summer but now that it is winter, I needed a new solution. I still use the regular mount in my sequoia, just not the taco

Version 3 - worlds better. Used a part that I believe came from an am of fm stereo antenna mount. Minor mods and I slides perfectly under the dash trip. I attached a magnet holder from my cd phone mount and voila.

Zero blind spot, phone has never fell off, no matter what I do and my vent is mine. I could make it prettier I suppose
