homemade supercharger kit?

    3" lift with adjustable shocks and AAL, TPS disabled, anytime locker mod, MOOG greasable ball joints and adjustment pins, URD M3 s/c, Pioneer nav headunit, xplod 1000w amp, 10" infinity sub, tinted windows, lightly tinted tails, color matched front grill with blacked out emblem. Do battle scars count as mods?? =D
    I can get an Eaton M62 for basically nothing right now. It came stock on the supercharged Cobalts. Is there any aftermarket parts out there for me to make a homeade kit for my 4.0 Tacoma using this supercharger? Wanted some input whether I should go for it or not.

    You would need;

    - injectors
    - engine management
    - intercooler
    - serpentine belt
    - intake manifold on which you could mount the charger - biggest PITA, because it would have to be custom built...

    And most likely the M62 is not big enough for the 4.0L... M90 would be better suited for the 4.0L

    I'd say skip it, unless you have vast mechanical knowledge and you can aford to have the truck down when you are installing the charger.

    yea the m62 is even underpowered on the cobalt, i have a buddy that has done everything but a top end build to his and is not happy with it. i think the trd for the 1st gens is a m62 and the trd for the 2nd gens is a m90

    I would say the fact that the M62 is pretty small...It came on a Cobalt after all...is reason enuf to not try it.

    when i was in highschool someone suggested that by attaching a leaf blower to the intake of a car it could make positive PSI. i was really really surprised when we looked it up and a high end leaf blower didn't move enough air for the motor to produce any psi. not to mention the other 1000 problems. the point of this is if its undersized it will actually hurt performance, and i am amazed at how much air these motors move.

    Not worth it, you need a lot of custom parts machined. In the end you will spend as much as a TRD SC costs.

    If you can get it for pretty much nothing. Get it, powder coat it and sell it on a Cobalt forum.

    Ok, sounds like its mostly not worth it because it would be too small then. Ok well thank you all for your input.

    OME 881 coils with OME nitrochargers shocks up front. TC UCA's OME Dakars with extra leaf in the rear. Warn 8000 winch with 80ft custom braided synth line. Custom 60ft synth extension. All pro tube bumper, Hi-lift jack, Safari Snorkel, Wilco tiregate.
    I would buy it if its almost free and just bolt it to something, anything. Lawnmower, backpack leafblower, go cart.
