I really like the tuffy boxes https://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-235-toyota-tacoma-bed-security-lockbox.aspx but don't want to spend $200 on one and they don't make one for the smaller box. I did see one guy on here moved his outlet so he could install two of these tuffy boxes, but I like where the outlet is. Those who have the tuffy box, does it look like something someone with a welder and some metal could build? Or should I suck it up and buy one?

You would need a lot more than just a welder and some metal.

You need a CNC plasma table, a welder, and a press brake as a minimum.

Then you would need to buy all the locking hardware, hinge, and gasket material.

Then you would need to send it out for powder coating.

For what Tuffy gives you, their price is damn good.
