The key is to sand it down and give the paint a surface to adhere to. I put some 220grit on my vibe sander and made a few passes. I'll have it wrapped up later this morning.

 

Done.

 

I know of a good spot to sticker bomb now......

 

So this came today... Still gotta figure out how to set it up right.

I ran 23 and Yellowjacket with the crawlbox. Everything worked as expected.

Honestly it felt like cheating it was so smooth!

I'm working on an electronic hand throttle. It's turning out to not be the easiest endeavor though.

 

gotcha, that would be sweet. On these newer trucks that are all electronic it's a little more difficult though. There are two hall sensors down by the gas pedal that sense pedal position and they both have to match.

 

Yup. I picked up a second OEM pedal to modify. Finding an off the shelf sensor that matches the Toyota specs is impossible.

The plan is to build a DPDT switch with a couple DPDT relays to control the two signals. I'll have to switch between foot and hand controls as having the two signals active at the same time won't work.

So when I get in a bind I can switch over to the hand throttle, but will have to stick with it until I'm past the obstacle.

We'll see how it works out.

 

Nice, sounds like you've done quite a bit of research already. And yeah, with the electronic type throttle it seems like the best option would be to divorce control from the stock location and modify it then resend it back to the ECU as you are saying.

 

Completely separate is the only way to keep the engine from automatically returning to idle. I'm working on a sort of dead man type setup for the switch. I have my work cut out for me.

 

Why hand controls?

Is that just a complete noob type of question? I just don't understand.

 

I'm assuming you have an automatic transmission, yes?

Hand controls so you can keep your feet on the clutch and brake while feeding throttle with your third foot, aka you're right hand.

And yes, I just play with an auto. Worn out knees and being 6'6" told me to choose practicality over fun.
