To repeat what Nathan asked, how did the wheel come off?

How much engagement on the studs is there currently?

With my aftermarket wheels, I was only getting a small portion of the threads, since my wheels are thicker than OEM. Always was scared that it wasn't enough bite.

That is why I swapped to the ARP studs.

I am using the Celica GTS studs. They are not cheap. They are also not as long as the Lexus Studs. As well as having a longer knurled section, which presses into the hub.

I have no personal experience with the EVO studs.

 

I wish I had a solid answer for why it came off - could be several different reasons.
Not sure what I'm doing here yet. Have a lot to think about...

I wouldn't go back out to Moab unless I had others with me the entire way. Especially after URE.

 

Anthony was two or three studs away from losing a wheel on a major highway

Pretty sure now that the issue was the studs not being completely seated properly in the hub.

Everything is back together once again. Still undecided on status.

I think you should still come to Moab though! Sounds like you figured it out, as long as they're seated good go for it!

 

@HomerTaco, if your trip out west and/or back takes you along Interstate 64 through St. Louis and you need a place to be able to turn a wrench I can open my shop for you. I don't have every tool out there but I have quite a few plus an air compressor to run pneumatic tools. I can also scare up some local TacomaWorld guys to help out if needed.

while on said lift,have father in law throw a weld on the back side of stud to axle flange.Piece of mind and hit the road.If you have break down give me a holler,ill load up trailer and come get u.
