    Im getting a Leer 100R from someone this weekend with the factory roof rack, but i don't think it is reinforced like the 100RCC is with the 400lb rating… Does having a factory rack make the roof stronger? Pretty much what I'm trying to get at with all of this blabbering is, does your cap have the 400lb rating for the roof of it or just the factory rack?.. i would like to get a RTT maybe this summer and was wondering if my cap would be strong enough supporting it

    Mine has the factory HD rating.
    I overloaded it once - carried eight 8' long structural columns about 75 miles from a supplier to one of my stores. They weighed about 85lbs. each.
    I was VERY top heavy and would never do it again...

    That was before I had the RTT so I knew a 140lb. tent would be cake in comparison. ;)

    So pretty much you are comfortable having the tent up there with you in it.. No worries of the cap breaking or anything? I guess when the tent is actually set up some of the weight is put onto the ladder too right? I just want to be sure before i go buy a tent one day and figure out that its heavy lol.. You think a Leer 100R with the factory racks would be good supporting that?

    I don't see why not... The ladder supports 1/2 the weight of the open tent when you are in it.
    I was putting it up there regardless - I figured that if I did have an issue (which I don't) that I would just get some square tube stock and fab a support bar or two.
    IMO it is called a ROOF top tent for a reason - it goes on the ROOF. :D
    The bedracks look stout but I can still see out my back window & it's like having a portable tree house.
    Who doesn't like that? :cool:

    Ha yeah thats what I'm saying.. The Bed racks do look good, but i like the idea of the cap to my shit safe and being able to put the RTT up there is just another plus :D Ive wanted one since I've first went out in the woods haha.. hopefully this summer I'll be able to get myself one and throw it up there.. Thanks dude! Keep building that monster up, maybe one day my truck will be one your level :cool:
