We'll be doing a meet & greet for lunch and then headed down to the beach to camp out. Headed west Monday 5/27.

 

I'll be coming back through Colorado more than likely.

Houston is just a fun way to start the trip.

Did a bit of maintenance today:

Air filter, plugs, and throttle body cleaning:


Removed the diff skid too:





glad that sucker was on there.

 

Holy bajeezus. You might need to repaint that sucker

really have not noticed much difference....

 

Nothing wrong with that. Just means that you are on top of things.

 

pulled the busted passenger flare this weekend:



trees keep attacking the same damn spot!

Damage is not too bad:



Basically just snapped at the weld line.

Fortunately I know someone who can fix it pretty easily.

Here's the flare all formed back in one piece and primed:



It's not perfect but I figure I'll probably hit another one so Eff it...

I had a sight crack in the drivers side too - not sure when it happened but i think it may have been a shopping cart.
Fixed that too:

Just have to bolt them back on tomorrow & that's one more thing off the list.

Also got some more goodies in the mail:



I'm only missing the solenoids - they should be in before the week is out.

I also ordered a new set of center pins for the rear leafs - I plan to switch out my old leaf pack with much newer ones before we leave for Moab.

 

left stock they are easier to install than the stock flares IMO...

Doing it my way is a much different story.

Nine nuts & bolts per flare plus a shitload of fabrication & cutting to make them fit.

I'm just a lunatic that wanted to try something different.

 

Take a look in the side view mirrors when you're going down the highway. with the cut bedsides for the high clearance rear bumpers, you can get some flex and "flapping" going on with the rear of the bedsides. may just be stress cracks that develop over time, from the repeated flexing.

 

The bushwhackers mount from the inside of the fender wells. The bolts in the "pockets" that they come with are strictly for "show"

Maybe the cause for the drivers side but the passenger was all tree again.

 

i'm working on some bedisde supports for mine to help with the issue. may have them done on sunday if i can find the time. if they solve the problem and don't do any extra damage, i'm sure we can get a set sent up your way.
