Carbon fiber, cage, adjustable shocks, springs, bigger antiroll bars, shock tower trusses, turbo charge it - trackday car it won’t hurt as much now that it’s been hit.

Spoke to the chickies ins co yesterday. They’ll be paying.
Sent them the auto body estimate via email & he said give us 48hrs to process.
Thursday afternoon I make a call if I don’t hear back.
I hate driving around with a busted up rear end.

 

Hope so! I’ve got a possibility of picking up a matching drivers tail light for $30. Hope to maybe save some aggravation on ordering the Valenti’s...

 

Good info there. I never looked into that for my truck. My frame height is 19” so I know I’m good.

 

Is it still that way with the new rear suspension?

If they question the rear height.you have pics of us installing rear springs.Those pics should be time stamped.

 

Here’s a little side project I just wrapped up:

I’ve gotten together with a local FRS/BRZ group through Facebook and have been to a couple of parking lot meet. Totally different than what I’m
used to with the Tacoma crew but there are a few nice folks in the bunch.

Was chatting with one of the members about the fender garnish & where to get extra ones. I had an idea to make a custom set just to be different.

There are a couple aftermarket options but I was not really impressed with the designs.

Anyway, the member said that if I would modify a pair for him he would give me an extra pair as payment for me to modify my own.

Here’s the part:

They are a two piece design with the backer being the part that fastens the piece to the fender. They are held together with the standard 3M mounting tape.


This particular member wanted a set that was completely flush, not what I had in mind for my own but I figured I’d give it a shot.


I used Lord Fusor to put it all together.


Needed a bit more tweaking


The final results:

The guy made them for has a vinyl wrap on his car so he will be wrapping these pieces as well. I was not crazy concerned about having them 100% perfect, they just need to be solid and smooth.

Pretty happy with the way they turned out.

For my set I’m going to make the opening larger and put a piece of mesh in it and eliminate the stock emblem bump out like I did on the first set.

Nice! I've got a '15 Release Series (Yellow) with a KW SC. These cars really come alive once some forced induction is introduced.

 

That’s the one I really wanted but could not find at the time I was in the market. I’ve only seen a couple of them and the manual version rs1 is nearly a unicorn.
What made you go with the KW sc vs. the others available?

 

I want to say I had a really good reason for going with the KW, but mainly it's because I found one used on the cheap. Install was cake. I went with Delicious for the tune. I do like that the KW kit has an independent belt system. If you're out somewhere and the belt snaps, you're not stranded or having to deal with replacing the belt on the side of the freeway. Also, it uses a great compressor, the c38 Rotrex. I'm also not a fan of screw type SCs on this car. These cars were meant to have the weight down low, and I don't care for the heat soak on top of the engine either. The KW kit is also well made and easy to install, and the intake is a true cold air intake routed into the front bumper. Other SC kits locate the intake behind the radiator. The downside is there is no tensioner pulley, so the one delicate nature of the kit is setting the proper tension on the toothed belt. Too much or too little and you get a shredded or broken belt. Replacement belts run about $160. There's a few tricks to getting the correct tension. So far I haven't had to replace one. The downside I didn't realize with this kit until after installing it was that the intake was located inside the front bumper. Great for cold air induction, baaaad for running boost leak tests. Anytime you want to run the test, you have to remove the front bumper.

 

Great information, I appreciate the thoughtful response. I’d like to boost mine as well but like you I’m hoping for a used kit on the cheap.
