Sorry to hear that. Glad your going to be ok.

I would consider getting a lawyer. The guy who hit you or husband may have insurance you can file against. If not, I would haul them to court. If they own a home file a lien against the house. I would go after the driver big time.

Hopefully the police are going to nail them for no insurance, unregistered vehicle, etc.

I may look into a lawyer this week. At least get some advice from one! Both husbands are mid twentys, kinda looked like they were living out of their car so not sure how beneficial suing them would be but looks like the only route to take. My biggest concern now is if my insurance will replace my camper shell and my aftermarket suspension components! Suspension was literally 2 weeks old!

Sooooooo....what's the deal on your passenger side headlight? Want to trade mine with broken tabs for yours and let that guy's insurance get you a new headlight? It's a win-win for everybody!

If your car insurance won't cover the camper, etc, then iff you have homeowner/renter insurance policies, look to see if they will cover the camper, etc.
In general those type of policies cover personal property.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Yea --put it on your homeowners ins!!?? Then your homeowners rates goes through the roof next time you go to renew. Tread lightly if persuing this route-- check with your writing agent before you file this claim -- you may regret it later on. Seems like insurance companies today only want to pay out for a total loss --aka your house burns totally down, or in the case of cars --it is totaled. Just my experience and opinion ! -- good luck with your case!

    Daaaaang.....sorry, glad your ok.

Maybe the driver ran away because it was a front impact and he was scared? Maybe he would have preferred to be hit in the rear?

It's likely the home owners ins. Deductible is higher than the cost of it anyhow. Most policies are a % of the house coverage amount.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was suggesting the OP try and go at the driver who hit him insurance (homeowner). Though his personal insurance may also cover it. One reason I suggested getting a lawyer. Later posts indicates that the person that hit him may not have any type of insurance.

I bet I am one of the older posters here (65+). I have had a few claims against my personal home owner insurance. One was for over 18K. Guess what, my rates did not go up. Long time ago I used a renter insurance policy for theft of items. Claim was for just over 1k. Didn't effect my rates.

Also had my 06 Tacoma totaled by someone hitting me. My insurance paid me. My insurance did not go up.

I do tend to use a major insurance carrier and have been with them since I was in my early 20's. Have car, home and umbrella coverage with them. They may not be the cheapest and they are not the most expensive. imo, it pays to stay with a company. They have treated me right through the years.

That comment is down right scary for anyone looking to purchase any type of vehicle. But you were honest when you sold it, right?

    And good luck OP.

that sounds ridiculous. no ins company is going to pay 19k to fix a 2004 miata, it would have totald 3 x over.. secondly you cant file a diminished value claim against your own insurance. that is only for 3rd party claims and only if it was the first time the veh was in an accident.

If some scumbag in a POS civic did that to my new Taco I'd shoot him between the eyes! (Figuratively of course, wink, wink)
