I’ll second that question, I am planning on running a.....

    https://denveroutfitters.com/product-category/rod-vaults/

On mine in 10ft length if it works. To be honest before I order mine I’m going to mock it up with a 2x4 or pvc pipe in the same length ratchet strapped to my GFC (when my roof rack is on) and make sure it fits. To be honest I’m not 100% sure it’s not too long....

    239BE325-29ED-4DFA-82E4-4C444D970689.jpg

Figure the GFC is ~90” long that rod vault I’m thinking is say 120” well I just don’t know. I guess it depends on how much the roof rack and brackets space it off the roof, and how much rear overhang you set. But looking at this picture it doesn’t give me too much confidence that it’ll work. Like I said I’m definitely going to mock it up before ordering.... it MIGHT, but it’ll be damn close!

We haven't tried it. However, I can put a 9'6" surfboard on top and still open it. Just barely clears the cab when using the round cross bar towers. (see photo) And it does have to hang off the back a tiny bit. Or as @ace7196 said, you could maybe mount them to the lower extrusion by modifying some awning brackets.

Mounts on standard round (Yakima) bars. I have a Tenkara rod (for my wife actually) we love it for small stream fishing, when she uses that I use a Diamondglass 3wt (the original made in VT blank for any glass enthusiasts out there). But I live on big big water, our lake run fish up here run 15-35lbs so I use 7-9wt rods much more often than light stuff. If it doesn’t work out I’ll just fill the left (skinny drawer) on my Decked with tubes and run a hood mounted rack for hopping stream to stream. I just like the idea of everything locked and rigged up and ready.

I'm thinking of adding the same thing. Please let us know how your pvc pipe fit check works out.

That picture makes me think it might work... since the rod tube will be spaced slightly higher due to the brackets and won’t curve down at all like a surfboard. Damn it maybe i better get on the GFC website tonight and order a roof rack, though I’m not super worried about the rod rack until spring...

Hanging it sideways is kind of a cool idea.... i might play around with that some more if the top doesn’t work. Thanks!

My only concern would be how far down the reel case drops, you need to be able to operate the rear GFC Panel, not to mention Wiley mentioned rear mount awning brackets are coming soon.... so I will defiantly need that... gonna have to do some measurements for sure.

I'm hoping you guys do another hiring round next Fall!... As soon as my GFC arrives :)fingerscrossed: April), I am quitting my job, driving around for 6+ months, and living out of the GFC. I will be looking for another job around Fall 2019. I have a Masters in Business and have worked in supply chain for ~6 years :)

thats a good point, i was hoping to offset far enough from the latches that the overhang wouldn't interfere. although that my block my rear awning from install.... may be too many things. may go with padded pvc on the interior for rods broken in half instead.

First time using the rear awning. So far it’s very secure and at the right height to avoid smacking my head into it.

    It's DLX son!
Anyone seen pics of a GFC on a regular cab taco yet? @wileydavis - have you guys done any installs on a single cab 2nd gen taco?

After looking at how close the rear of my GFC is to the rear of the cab I am wondering if the slightly different standard cab shape would be a problem.

Just kidding, I found my answer searching the thread:
Guess I can stop thinking about moving to a regular cab and swapping my GFC over.

Wow! That is a sweet setup.

You could setup a food truck / mobile bar with that and make bank!
