I feel like rod vaults are limiting. I run sumo suction mounts while fishing because I’m usually fishing a Spey setup these days. During the summer months when I’m fishing some trout water with friends they still work great. They hold 6 rods and I’ve never had a hiccup with the suction mounts or anything. My rods go inside at the end of the day too... to each their own I guess.

That picture really shows the angle I'm looking for. I now feel comfortable getting the Rod Vault. I have to decide if the Vault comes before or after the SDHQ hidden winch and ICON RXT leaf pack. I have a long wish list.

I’d be willing to bet your bag isn’t actually rated for 0*.

    What bag is it?

For anybody planning on getting a “good” bag for cold temps, especially without additional heat sources - if it isn’t EN rated for comfort at your planned low temps, either don’t buy it or subtract 20-30 degrees from the “rating” and make sure that number is what your lowest planned temps will be.

This is especially important for females.

If you sleep cold, have an EN comfort rating well below your lowest planned temps.

Well keep in mind Expo doesn’t only attract Tacoma’s and 4runners. There were many many many sprinter Vans 2 and 4 WD, as well as truck campers, and other not made for mud vehicles. There was enough MaxTrax onsite to build a road (and they were being used lol)

To be honest it was mostly Sprinters and other Vans getting really stuck. Quite a lot of Earth Cruisers around but they sure didn’t get bogged down.

My Buddy at Backroadventures had to MaxTrax his built Rubicon into his booth spot to keep from sliding through his neighbors booth. It’s was quite a show.

Though I did watch a 4Runner get towed backwards up the vendor area with a skid steer, it was pretty crazy to see some of the “show” vehicles trapped like they were... FJ Company had a $240k FJ43 there on display. I’m guessing there detailer isn’t going to be happy this week lol...

Just catching up on IG. @macdadmorgan has some good video of a 1.5M dollar EarthRoamer being pulled with a Dozer , also there’s a story of a 3rd gen T4R blowing his axle out in the “parking lot” what a show.

Yep, Ross was there he said he had a trailer with 4 campers with him. Forge Overland was there too with the first GFC tent (it’s on a Power Wagon) so that was neat to see.

Nemo Sonic - Comfort level is rated at ~13 degrees and lower limit is right around 0 degrees. It's a damn expensive bag that my cousin passed on to me after he quit backpacking due to an injury.

Yeah really nothing worked as planned but we still had a great time. Camped with some great people. Maybe next year.

For the average sleeper (cold) comfort isn’t going to be comfortable. You might be able to supplement the bag a bit and have much better results.

Also, make sure you are staying hydrated and drink water before bed. There’s a fair bit of other things we can do to prep the body for heating our bags better. The bag itself doesn’t do more than we are able to allow it to.

We came up on Saturday. It was a mud fest for sure! Still fun to meet a bunch of people I follow online and finally see a GFC. Nice to see what I’ve ordered.

We just got back from a 4400 mile trip in our RTT while we wait on the GFC. We used our little buddy in the annex most nights. With a small vent open it kept us toasty even with it snowing outside. We’ve been using it a couple years with no problems.

Yes.... the very first night I used my GFC in sept it was almost raining inside it there was so much moisture.... i was camped in a very damp area. Since than it’s been 100% better. Mine arrived too late for me to sleep with the screens all open but I’d imagine that making a difference, I’ve only cracked the side vents thus far.

I don't know about other folks' experience with Kirkland Signature batteries, but I have found that any time they are in a low drain device for a long time, they will leak almost always. It stinks because I like the price and the comparable capacity. They just have always let me down.

Maybe everyone else has a different experience, but I just thought I would pass that along.

Nothing honesty too awe inspiring. It’s been mentioned here but Kinnsman has a new 270 degree awning (launched about 5 days ago with BlueRige Overland gear building the canvas. They are working on a GFC specific mount for their awning so that’ll be a first. @Quadabaum seems to be the driving force for this at the moment.

I’m sure there was something else amazing but I didn’t spend a dime on anything.... so I guess nothing that impressed me too much. Admittedly I stopped in WV at PF and he’s making me a custom barrel for me to pick up on my drive home... all things considered I’ve gotten off very cheap so far.

Same here - They always leak. The amount of flashlights and controllers they’ve ruined...
