With a lot of effort, I've been able to clean the stuff up except for a Maglite where the batteries sealed themselves in place.

Here's a good video for that:

I didnt buy anything either but I did get to see my 1st GFC in person, 1 week before I drive to get mine. I thought blue ridge chairs was cool and I like made in usa hand made stuff. I also got to see the kinnsmen in person, along with the shower stall and it was awesome. I will be sure to post up plenty of pictures next week and updates on the awning.

I think I spent more time trying to meet up with people than I did visiting booths, but even with what I saw I didn't see anything mind-blowing. I was, however, excited to see a GFC in the flesh finally even though I ordered in Aug, so I am even more stoked to get it now. I was definitely happy to see it and I really dig @macdadmorgan rig since he has some of my current setup along with future plans I had for my truck, so I was glad to see my ideas do work in the real world. I will say I was not impressed with the Kinsmen (sorry @YOTA 4X4 !), although good on those guys for making it and getting orders. To me there was an obvious difference between it and the AluCab in quality just when you walked up. I had my 2 friends that are fabricators look at it versus the AluCab and they were very impressed with the AluCab. The Kinsmen apparently doesn't have a pooling issue when it rains, but you can just fabricate your own extra arms for the AluCab and fix that problem.

I can't say the same thing for myself regarding not buying anything LOL:spending:
I had already planned on the purchases but wanted to see them in person first.

Well drove down to Indiana to meet Ross on his way back. Super friendly nice fellow. Order came with wrong paint. So back to the shop it went. Back to waiting for me. All in all he was very professional and had great customer service and insisted on correcting the issue. Unfortunate. The issue stemmed from the invoice not reflecting what was discussed in emails. So do yourself a favor and insist on seeing the invoice and checking colors before driving or taking delivery. I actually asked for the invoice but was never given one, so that came to bite me in the butt.

In case anyone was wondering, I finally made adapters for the eezi awn awning to mount to the gfc brackets. Scrap piece of thick aluminum cut to 3" x 5" and some stainless hardware. Countersunk the bolts that hold the adapter to the bracket so that I can mount the assembly directly to the back of the awning. Pretty simple but should work.

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. I know you’ve been on here posting a lot and have been excited to get yours. Happy to hear they going to treat you right. Hope your wait isn’t too long.
Also thanks for the advice. I’m going to call/email on mine tomorrow and make sure they are getting my choices right!

Those with the GFC, how do you find removing bedding every time? That’s the nice thing about my RTT, can store the bedding in it between spots and just remove pillows but I remember reading there is any room on the GFC?

Nice cushion covers. You made those or had them custom made? I remember seeing the post on them a while ago.

I use a sleeping bag(s) so it’s a snap takes me an extra 90 seconds each way. If you were using sheets and bedding you may feel different. The ease and speed of putting a GFC up (10 seconds), or putting one down (90 seconds) makes up for it to me.

Wicked! Fitted sheets would fix half the problem with making the bed every morning.

Has any one built a sleeping platform below for the kids? Figured the LB version with a FWC flip over couch somehow attached to the bedrails would work perfect for a 3rd adult or kids.

Hope to see some side windows on future versions

Which awning was this fabricated for? I've been meaning to mount up my batwing but the winter months has this fairly low on the priority list. What is the eye-to-eye of that plate you added? I'm curious how close it is to my mounting hardware.

Let me tell you about GFC#2.

This will probably set off a "whine-fest" for several reasons but my experience has been exceptional. I paid my $500 deposit early on and then paid in full on the first day to get free shipping. I got the camper in mid-May and self installed. As reported earlier, there was freight damage on the side panels and Graeme said he would replace them on his first east coast white glove run. Meanwhile, I used the camper and waited patiently. I checked in with Graeme occasionally and he either answered my calls immediately or would return my call promptly.

When I saw reports here of the first east coast run I called and asked if he had my panels. He responded no and he had been meaning to call me. I'm thinking, "here we go......, what now?" He asked if I was going to Expo East and I said yes. He went on to explain all the upgrades which had happened since I got mine since I had GFC#2. He, Ross and Wiley had discussed my situation and felt the best fix for my camper was for them to replace it with a brand new one!

All last week prior to Expo, Ross and I talked and tried to coordinate his arrival and the pending monsoon. So,Thursday afternoon just as the mud-fest rains began, Ross, my wife and I swapped it out in about an hour. All new seals, brackets and bolts, everything!

Needless to say, we could not be happier with the product and the customer service. I think this speaks volumes to the caliber and integrity of the GFC owners. Ross, Graeme, Wiley; you have a very satisfied customer in North Carolina!

You never know. Ross slept in it on the trailer during Expo so its probably back in Montana now.
