I was 101 on the Leaderboard. I thought mine was the worst, but gman36 is pretty close. A lot of the time I will be in "Bunk" mode (pin locks easily), and not trying to be a whiner, but it is hard for me to believe that the camper will ever "limber" up enough to get all the cushions in and get my passenger pin to close. The above poster who suggested incorrect torque sequence may be on to something, but I already made a return trip to Belgrade, and all Wiley did was bang on the sides with the dead blow hammer (with no effect) and state it was within spec. I will probably head back up there after the holidays, and see what they can do (if anything) to remedy the situation.

Mine was built fairly early on and doesn’t have that offset. It is a bit harder to close with the swingout open but not impossible, even with all the cushions in. Looking at old pictures on my phone it seems to be a pretty even gap on either side. Yet again I find myself 4000 miles away from the truck and can’t get a current picture.

I wonder if that gap is affected by someone picking up on the end of an open tire swing out, or by jacking up the axle on one side or the other. I would imagine the space frames are strong enough that the camper can’t twist, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

Nice man. I’ve come across a bunch of conflicting opinions but I think it’d be safer to do rather than not.

Are you goin to do bump stops?

My passenger side top extrusion came bowed out slightly, peaking around 5-6mm at the midpoint. My driver side extrusion is pretty dam straight. Assuming both extrusions were cut the same length, because of the bow, the length of that top extrusion would be slightly shorter, also explaining what we are seeing. Have you checked if your top extrusion on the driver side is straight? I took a few measurements relative to the bottom extrusion going the full length.

Hey @BoneTaco , I was just searching around to see if there were any other discussions on the Deaver U402 packs. I was curious why you are thinking stage I/II? I was originally planning to go with stage II, but a buddy convinced me to go all out with III and I couldn't be happier. I do admit my Habitat is around 75 lbs heavier, but that's not much in the grand scheme. What you plan on hauling in your bed? Swingout on your truck, or in the future?

For second gen owners - a swingout only adds about 35lbs of weight, plus your jerry cans and spare.

Yeah, a bumper/swingout isn't a huge diff, but 2 jerry's of fuel/water and the tire moved to the back can put a lot of weight far behind that rear axle.

Not trying to push my opinion here or anything, I just know I would have had serious buyer's remorse if I went with stage II instead of stage III. And with him mentioning I/II, I wanted to put in my 2 cents to make sure he doesn't run into that if at all possible. :) And I definitely would have gone stage II without my buddy pushing me towards stage III. To me, dodged a bullet. lol.

I'm currently running the Timbren Super Bumps and they work great. With the amount of weight I'm carrying, I don't know if these are better than the Sump Springs I ran before, but I still have them and can swap them back in if needed.

Been tracking the GFC camper progression for a while, albeit not here on TW, so I have a few questions. Hope they aren’t repetitive.
    - Has anyone used a bike tailgate pad with the camper? Will the rear windo still close?
    - how much height does the camper add above the cab/antennae?
    - how does the camper hold up in winter storms? (This one is probably a repeat from somewhere else that I couldn’t find).

Truth be told...in my early naive days I was advised (and listened) to get J66s with sliders and a Snugtop Rebel which come to find out isn’t the weight they are meant for.

I am getting a GFC and have DCLB sliders so that puts me near 400lb figuring half the slider weight is in the front. Based on the Deaver website recs Stage II is the way to go.

My truck is my DD but when I use it for what I want to it’s for back country access to bird hunting and fishing usually for 3 days trips. My bed loads are nothing crazy but I’d say can be a few hundred pounds over. My concern for the stage IIIs is constantly being at the end of my shock travel.

    Thanks for chiming in.

Have you measured your shocks? I'm only asking because I need to do so. I think mine are hitting full extension about 1/4-1/2" before full droop on my current OME leaves. I'm hoping the Deavers will solve this, but I've also been looking for a longer Icon shock. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find one.

I'm starting to really look at the viability of getting one of these. I've emailed GFC a few times and they've been good to respond. I'm curious if I could fit my dirt bike in it. It looks to be a few inches above the cab and if the bed panels are moved to the back to make more room for the handlebar height, I'm thinking it might work. Also GFC, it would be awesome if you could offer an upgrade to an ARE style walk-in rear door to replace the tailgate and rear hatch. That along with a custom built bed floor 2 drawer/table and it'd be the ultimate for me.

Note that the front panel is fixed. Only the three panels in the 48in x 48in area are movable. With your SB, that may or may not be a problem with the handlebars?

Windoors were asked for by a few folks early on, but ruled out by GFC.

I’ve thought about this too but I don’t know what I’d do about the length. Would you just drive around with the tailgate and back panel open the whole time?

The fixed panel shouldn’t be a problem in a short bed but the height might be without taking a panel out. The only thing that might cause a problem with that is you would have the tent fabric hanging down on the handlebars.

I think the max handlebar height with the panels in is 41 inches. I will probably use a trailer for dirt bikes but I think I can fit a single mountain bike in the back at an angle with the front wheel on and all panels in. If I need to haul two bikes inside I’ll figure out a way to put two fork mounts at the bottom of the bed and I’ll be using my hitch rack to free up bed space for camp stuff on longer trips.
