You can reach down from the tent door and pop the latches. I’ve done it that way a few times.

Open the tent rear door and reach down? That’s what I did this morning....

Any suggestions or DIY workarounds for the sealed latches and potential to be locked in if you are camping incognito or with the top down due to very high winds? My first night out was met with huge gusts of wind that led me to eventually sleep down below with the tent down (moved camp 3 times and pointed in various directions, just too windy). Without the ability to lock/unlock from the inside the wind was strong enough to blow the rear panel open.

The reinforcement rib on the rear panel has a few holes in it. You could use that to attach a clip and line to the side frame and keep the panel from being blown open or opened easily from the outside.

I was wondering if it was possible to lower the tent from inside without opening the panels if, for example, your camp was hit by a major thunder storm with wind and you didn't want to go outside to button things up. I assume you wouldn't be able to latch it, but could you fully collapse it and temporarily secure it from the inside?

Kinda sorta not really... I’m not sure it’d be super practical. Nothing much to grab onto.

It’s super super waterproof though. Ive been in monsoon rain and NO LEAKS whatsoever

Maybe someone with the unsealed latch will chime in. I believe you could close them with those latches.

I tried something similar with what I had on hand inside the GFC (first night). I basically had a leather belt and bootlaces to work with. It didn't work out so well in my case. I'm sure it would work with better supplies, but I was hoping for a more elegant solution.

FWIW, I can now open my tailgate even with the GFC locked. When cold, the seal doesn't flex as well.
In that case you could open up the tailgate from inside.
A guy on TW has a thread on how to do this.
Once it's warm again I'm not sure it'd still work.

I wish. I’ve had mine for almost five months and I haven’t been home for 3 1/2 months of that time.

Same here. Time to ensure the tailgate is locked.

Good news, the tent is easier and easier to close with all the panels in. Make sure to fold the sides in as much as possible and it is easy.

Hey man. Just hooked up with Kinnsman at Expo. They were super pumped to make mounts specific to the GFC.... super cool folks. They’re gonna do some hard looking at my GFC tomorrow and see what they come up with. Let me know when you’re around tomorrow my truck will be in booth S32. See you than.

If you lock the latches while they're open, they can't be latched closed, which would prevent someone from locking you in. To latch the panel from the inside you can use a small bungee tied to the hole in the stiffener and knotted to wedge into the slot on the rear striker plate.
