Oh ya, that would make sense...

I hate to lose the info that was there but a dedicated thread for GFC mods could definitely be useful. I say go ahead and start a new one.

Next status is "In Assembly" followed by "Complete". I'm currently waiting to be in assembly. Should be in the next batch hopefully.

Hi all. I am selling spot number 455. I recently purchase a newer spot so I would get my GFC faster. If anyone is interested in my old spot shoot me a message. The build date is currently December. This would be a good pickup for anyone who has not put a deposit yet and is looking to get in a bit earlier than if you ordered now.

Hopefully I can buy out someone else’s and get it sooner when I have all the money, haha.
Although taking a roadtrip from Ohio to Montana in the snow next January sure does sound inviting.

Dang you got a distance ahead of you! I'm hopefully heading out early March to pick mine up but I only have 750 miles to get there. I'm hoping for some snow camping on the way back.

Nice! I'm debating between driving 30 hours from TN or having it shipped to me.

Be perfect for me if I could pick one up in June/July. I’m already heading out that way then.
About 24 hours from me. Think I can do it straight? lol

Sorry for the late reply to the question above, but was down in Baja. Got hammered with high winds and GFC was solid! Friends were in traditional tents and didn't sleep much, my family of four slept really well.

I have the camper with the side door on the tent. As others have pointed out, it works really well if you want to get out of the top without disturbing people below. I love the side tent door for the access, the view and I can quickly run up the ladder to grab something off the bed when needed. That said, I also think the view is solid without the side door. The back window is huge and the side windows are not far away. I got this option more for the access.

Important to note is that it is harder to close the top with the extra material from the side door and I often leave a panel out and it closes without a problem. I would recommend asking about the 2" mattress if you get the side door to help with closing. I believe GFC sells the 2" mattress with the RTT. Not sure about the pros and cons of the thinner mattress, but would be worth discussing.

Speaking of side access, I also want to chime in about the aluminum side panels fully opening. Windoors are cool and I always wanted them on the fiberglass shell I used to have, but the whole side opening up is next level! Being able to get things in the front corner of my truck bed or being able to reach lower down in the truck bed because there's almost no lip, is great. This is a big plus for the GFC and the more trips I take, the more this is my favorite feature. Hurt my knee surfing on Dec. 24th, then headed down baja four days later and the sides opening up made a huge difference so I didn't have to climb up on my knees to grab something or even to load it. Put my cooler on the tailgate and then pulled it forward from the side to put it in my truck. Also was able to get food and drinks on the road from the side. Could go on and on about this feature.

I wonder if they would consider offering just the frame and side panels with a fixed roof panel (aluminum or the current tent plastic) for folks who don't want a RTT, but see the benefits of a rugged topper with awesome bed access and the ability to both carry a rack and take some off-road abuse. I am still on the fence between a GFC and an off-road capable teardrop trailer, and if I went with the trailer I would still benefit from the GFC features without a folding tent. They could even include one fixed row of extrusion for accessory mounts.

Glad to hear it. I think I made the right decision to get the side entrance. Also, pics of Baja or it didn't happen. lol
