To be honest. The panels sound so much more solid while closing. It’s pretty nice.

That's almost exactly what I would do. I'd like to cover the the foam with white polycarbonate signboard, via contact glue, just thick enough to tap. You could then use that for various attachment points for light stuff. Hmm... might be more hassle than its worth?

White formica would lighten up the interior, protect the foam and be easy to clean. Help with heat too, especially with the flat black that I'll will have....one of these days.

With all this talk of heaters and insulation, does anyone have a recommendation for an inside/outside thermometer to measure how much all this is helping?

I can't find the exact model I have, but it's similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-00782A2-Wireless-Outdoor-Thermometer/dp/B0009Y7RPS
I mainly use it to check fridge temps, but mine has 2 outdoor sensors. So one could go outside, with the second in the fridge, and you can monitor all that from the display. They're all pretty inexpensive.

GFC is no longer taking phone calls. What about customer service? Gotta wait for email response @support.com. They need to get up to speed.:(

Anyone happen to know the thread size for the threaded taps inside the GFC frame?

I’m trying to get some stuff together to take out west with me when we go to take ownership of the camper in June. (Hopefully)
We plan on taking a two week camping trip around the MT, WY, CO, UT area after we get the camper and before heading back home to Ohio with it.
(Will post pics after trip) :)

What are you guys using to mount a solar system to the top of the GFC? I dont want to have to purchase the cross bar rack mounts and the cross bars to fit it.. seems there should be a cheaper way.

I think GFC said they will have low profile mounts specifically for solar panels. You could probably make something work with L brackets coming off the sides of the roof extrusion and bolting to the underside of the solar panels.

Don't know for sure, but I'd assume those holes are tapped for 5/16-18 based on above.

If you don't have a panel yet, I have to say I've been really happy with my 100W thin/flexible one. Stuck it directly to the roof with a bunch of 3M VHB. I've had it for 2 years now, seems to be holding up fine.

Any idea how hot the roof can get on a hot sunny day? I thought about getting the flexible solar panels, but my only concern would be heat transfer from the roof reducing the panel's efficiency. I don't have my gfc yet, so I don't know how much the white roof may or may not mitigate that.
