i did my own. it took two seconds once you got the tail light out. and the taps they give you are about as easy as it gets with this stuff. doesnt really do any damage to factory wires, can just remove the gfc end and leave the taps in place. i can also show how i routed my wiring when i get out to my truck later. no drilling necessary

Thanks. I'd love to see how you routed it.

Mine is tapped into the left taillight harness. The wires run down the tube frame and between the edge of the light and truck body inside the bed. Quick, simple and unobtrusive.

I’m trying to bug the GFC guys as little as possible, I’m also planning on driving to them to pickup/install and want to minimize the chance of any gotchas. Any installation snafu’s outside having to trim the larger 2g sharkfin antenna?

I think that the shark fin trim is only required if you are running lower profile bed rails like KB Voodoo.

Nope, it went smooth and easy with mine and we had to lift it on, no hoist back then.

Just wanted to post a quick timeline shot of the GFC process so far with my order. I still haven't picked it up but have schedule the days off work to make the journey to Bozeman.

    *Ordered on 7/30/2018.

*Order confirmed on 8/6/2018 with an ETA of 2/18/2019 for build start date.

*Notified of "Ready for Production" status on 12/10/2018.

*Received the "In Production" email on 2/7/2019.

So even after everything that has gone on with GFC and all the talk in the last 6 months they still are ahead of schedule by 11 day (for my build that is). Couldn't be more excited to pick it up now!

I'm not yet " In Production" so as far as I can tell they are on schedule

I am in the same boat. I've followed it VERY closely since I put my deposit down and they are on time or ahead as far as I can tell. Looking for completion by end of March!

the braided loom is the gfc tail light, after you remove the drivers tail light you can snake it through the little opening. i didn't take pictures of the tap into the wires (forgot to get them when i originally installed) but it is super straight forward. no drilling necessary.

Since I was out taking pictures.... thought I'd share a few more things. knock off brand max trax (maxsa escaper buddy) fit up front using the original tie downs that came with the truck on each side (super secure). was able to attach the quick fist to the gfc mounts. the last 2 pics show how i mounted some of those led string lights, the adhesive wouldn't stay on the panted tubes so I used an old plastic folder to make those little tabs to hold the string light. not super elegant but it works.

GFC communication has been pretty spot on recently. If you guys need something answered check out their website, and click the lower right hand icon that pops up. Allows you to chat with someone if they're online, or leave a message (which got quickly replied to).

Honest question: Is there something especially unsafe about his setup? Looks okay to me. I want to do something similar, which is why I ask.
