The swing out twists the truck frame a little when open so closing the tent can be a bit more difficult. I use the side panels to access everything pretty much and only open the back to load/unload big stuff or when camping. It doesn't get in the way of getting in/out because you have to open it and swing it to the side to do any of that.

Thanks for the reply! Can you talk a bit about getting into/out of the camper itself? Do you just use the ladder? Or do you leave the swing outs "out" while you are camping?

I got my camper before the side windows were a thing. If I had the option I would have gotten the windows and still might ask gfc if I can upgrade. When camping I generally leave the swing out open. The fold down table on my swingout meshes perfectly with the tailgate to make the perfect camping or hangout area around the rear of the truck. Pair that with an awning and you are set. If I am stealth camping I can load up everything in the back, jump in, pull the swingout close to closed, pull down the back panel, and finish closing everything up by reaching around through the side panel. I hardly stealth camp so it isn't a big deal.

I'm #472 in line, when I reserved my camper, the price was $500 down—towards $5750 for the base camper, it looks like the price has jumped to $6450. Does anyone know if GFC is honoring their price at time of reservation?

That is the deal. You should confirm with the folks at GFC though, esp as some shitposting in here has kept them away.

I still regret not getting in on the pre-order, but sadly, funds are still not there yet.

It’s ok. If you preorder, you got like 2 years until you gotta pay the rest lol

I’m 344 and put 500 down last October. I paid the rest of it off a couple weeks ago and got the 5750 price.

I’m sure they are honoring that for anyone who ordered before the price went up.

Yes, they are honoring the price. I'm not too far from you in line & I emailed GFC a week ago. They confirmed the 5750 price.

There's a GFC for sale in the SF Bay Area, for the DCSB in Black. Not sure if it has the new sealant between the tent/space frame or the old bulb seal. Rear taillight is on the hatch, so I believe that pre-Feb/March 2018. The guy is asking $6K. I'm tempted, but I've already waited 6 months and I'd like the new tent material and any updates they may make. Link:

Ralston was kind enough to sell me his GFC a few weeks back. Drove straight from central coast CA to Colorado to pick it up, and spent 8 nights in it on the return journey. Gotta say it’s pretty rad and worth the wait (yea yea I know I didn’t wait until one was made for me, but I’ve been looking at these since they started and didn’t get my deposit in before the years long queues started up). This is unit 3 I believe, and even with the various upgrades they’ve made since it was produced this was worth every penny. Photo was somewhere in Colorado on night one, got down to 24 degrees and I was plenty warm in my 20 degree bag and a down quilt over. Though getting out of that bag was quite cold.

For those who have picked up,what does the break light hookup look like? Is there anything they had you do before pickup?
